Howdy all,

I know, it's goofy that one of the first five episodes of my new podcast suddenly is a guest interview format and it's with the co-host of my other podcast, but he was at my house.

I've decided it could be fun to have some episodes be interviews. I know some people I imagine some of you might want to hear from, so I'm going to be a sort of metrosexual Theo Von now and again. I'll still do my pre-written rants and get dramatic and stuff as well. I think it would be fun to have my podcast mirror my musical output - totally disjointed and all over the place in terms of genre or style. So this is my first attempt at doing an interview type thing. I got to work on my interviewing chops though.

You'll notice it's very long. I'm told that's a good thing for podcasts. I hope it gives you something to pass the time on a long drive or something. I doubt a non-interview episode will ever be this long.

You might also notice it's been about a month since the last one. I think for now this'll be monthly. If I start getting the sense this could become its own thing that people would pay for or consume separately from my main Patreon then I'm open to doing more and seeing what happens from there, but I don't know. Let me know if you think you'd want a regular TFLMS podcast even if it meant fewer of them are written rants and theatrics and more of them are rambles or long-form interviews. Not saying I'd definitely go that way if you did, but I'm curious to know what y'all are into. Someday this show will likely be public, but I'm not doing that for a good long while if ever.

Let me know if there's anyone you think would be good to have on the show. Obviously I can't get Clavicular or Chappel Roan, but if you can think of a niche artist or whatever who you think might be down, drop a name in the comments. (That's right, comments are on, boys.)

Thanks for listening and for letting me share.

Amazing a 2 HOUR podcast episode...im gonna make my headphones die tonight

Marcel Cohen

not sure how likely but geordie greep or jemaine clement could be fun

Sonny

Would love for this to be a regularity regardless of content! I honestly enjoy rambles/non-scripted stuff more

Yoink of the Yukon!

I wouldn't call these people niche so maybe this is a bit of a long shot but ah well, maybe producer John Congleton or Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu? Totally excited to listen to this one!

Sophia

Excited to have something to listen to tomorrow! In terms of artist interviews, my friend Alex Touzet opened for you back in 2024 at your Florida show; they've been working on a lot of new music since then, so I think it would be super cool to hear you guys chat about that. Aside from them, I think it would be neat to hear some from the Ealu team!

Crowstal

If you're able to get John Congleton on I think that'd be very cool. He's worked with a lot of talented artists as a record producer, and I'm also really into the band he was apart of, The Paper Chase

bonkistobias

oooo this is my sign to catch up on the backlog while i work on some college stuff during the next two days! 2.5 hour long podcast episode... you are spoiling us mr wood 😇

bonkistobias

as for people to interview... i remember mike miller from endless mike and the beagle club opened for you and the boys in millvale last tour. that's how i discovered their music; it's incredible, thank you for introducing me to a kickass local band! i think it would be super cool if yalls paths crossed again for an interview :)

secretregion365

I really don't mind whatever approach you're gonna take with this podcast: I gladly listen to everything :p Regarding the question about the guests, I would LOVE to hear from Mario Conte or Mike Bottiglieri. Mario only has one interview on YouTube, while Mike has zero, which is so unfortunate because they legit seem like really interesting people! And I think it's gonna be easy for you to have them on this podcast?? Maybe. I don't know any niche artists that I imagine you would be interested in talking to. Maybe CK9C - they're a furry which already creates so many comedic moments between you two in my mind, and their music is very different from yours (it's electronic) and I think it would be interesting for you to discuss how your approaches for music creation differs! And also you said on the livestream that your next project is gonna be about gender - you def can discuss it with CK9C!

Sophia

seconding Mike and Mario!

Evan Miller

Get Ritt Momney! Also long form rambles would be fun to listen to

bonkistobias

i would also love to hear from mike and mario! i met them both during last halloweekend and they seem like such genuinely great people ❤️

possum emma

you should have on shayfer james, maybe you can settle your beef

Alyssa

The written rants are incredibly funny, but I like rambles and interviews too! Shayfer could make for a good guest

Davey

They’ll finally be friends and like each other

Davey

I love the little bit of everything, which is why I love your music. So I honestly can’t wait for whatever you got—rambles, rants, interviews, and whatnot. I can’t think of a lot of artists from the top of my head, but yeah I would love to hear from Shayfer James, or any band members, or artists just getting their name out there… very exciting! And I finally have something to listen to for 2 hours while I work.

Alex Touzet

sophia!!!! hi!!! i’d love to do this if you do want to get hyper-niche with it!!

adrien

can u interview anyone who has ever been in the dillinger escape plan please and thank u

adrien

man! i was super hoping to hear chris’s opinions about chappel roan that would get someone in trouble!

Alex Touzet

i’d love to hear you interview matt pless!!

Locke Ward

I would pay so much money to see you interview Clavicular

Jana

I personally enjoy rambles very much, love hearing your opinions on things especially because they do tend to make me think harder about what I say that could indeed be taken to heart by people who are genuine, and not the type of person I'm actually talking about at all, specifically around the "performative male" discussion. I'm also learning how to let myself be sensitive and to extend that grace to others, and realise that being *overly* suspicious of people can be counterproductive. I think as someone who knows a lot of women who've lived in domestic abuse situations a lot of it does come from bad experiences with men pretending to be genuine, and then them just... not being that, which does unfortunately get taken out of context and distorted on the Internet. (Not that people who dislike sensitive men don't exist)

Bonnie Hazen

Love all those ideas! I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest my son's fav artist, Jimmy Urine from MSI (hear me out). He lives abroad (you can do a virtual interview); his band was/is very niche itself, and often fought the categorization / restriction of genres; he's done other virtual interviews but not for a long time; he's been on hiatus since like 2014 -- what else is he going to do; and it would be cool AF. 😉

Maxwell Buescher

I need Chris to know the first copy of Rev he signed lives in my bookshelf amongst many of the series he listed as inspiration. He’s also the onus for me to finally make a substack.

Nessquiq

I recommend looking into getting Hemlocke Springs. I genuinely think she would vibe with you, and ironically she has been an opener for Chappell Roan. She's still niche but rising in popularity and she dropped a new album this year called "the apple tree under the sea" :p so I think its worth a shot if you find you enjoy her music. also i like seeing things that people enjoy making so if you like doing this then do more of it. I am however on the edge of my seat regarding the next project as you are being mysterious about it. so mysterious...

MoonyRainWing

I’ve been binging the uncharismatic editions of LITWTC, and I’m happy that this felt just like an episode of that, without the whole “what was the question again?” and the insane apocalypse stuff. I just like hearing people’s thoughts in replacement of my own, so I don’t mind what else you have in store! Genuinely laughed along and was half expecting an impression of someone to appear, surprised it didn’t. As for guests I’m not too sure, I’m not really familiar with more niche artists like others, but one of my friends like Elio Mei, they could be interesting? And thanks for sharing with us! I love hearing other people’s thoughts like I said, it’s neat to know other perspectives.

Cypress

I’ll gladly listen to whatever form the podcast takes! I’m partial to rambles and interviews, but I really enjoyed the written rants as well! As for smaller artists Kevin Atwater is a smaller queer musician from Illinois that does a lot of short film work for his music videos, and a lot of them are based on personal experience! Interpol isn’t what you’d consider a smaller artist at all, but Paul Banks and Daniel Kessler do a lot of interviews with smaller podcasts or magazines.

Gabriel Alicea

I've never been more compelled to buy a patreon in my entire life

trinitydsh

Love hearing more episodes of Chris and Will's departure from topics to just ramble on about discussion's with zero correlation that at some point lead back into the established point of the podcast, it's very joyful to listen to people just talk about literally anything for a good long while regardless if there's a point or context. Can't wait to hear more with other special guests.

Stressed in Motion

I really enjoyed this episode! I'd be kidding myself if I didn't recommend Chonny Jash, He made that Will Wood Power Hour a while back, but he does live abroad. He seems pretty fun tho idk

Beck

I'd love to hear from anyone you've collaborated with! Previous/current bandmates, anyone involved in music videos, some of the Beyond the Bark team that made Ealu, etc. It would be cool to hear about the process in making the projects you've shared and hear about the ones they're working on now. It was great to hear from a fellow writer, I'll have to check out Submission Grinder and read some of Chris' work. Thanks for sharing!

Enzo

Local New Jersey rock band singer Gerard Way (I’m kidding)

Jana

I do ultimately think that shaming "bad" people into being good or changing their mind does not help and instead further pushes them into whatever abyss they're in or creating an "us vs them" mentality.

Hayden Pigeon

Any 2024 local openers would be perfect for this I’d love to hear you on podcast, maybe we can all finish that project we continuously forgot about lol

Enzo

Idk if local but ELIO MEI WOULD BE SICK !!

Zoë

if you could interview Dallon Weekes from IDKHOW / The Brobecks that would be awesome!

lucien moonlight

Yeah !!! It would be so good please we need a podcast with will wood and elio mei 🙏

Doggeros

Good lord I missed this. I hope you do more interviews, and I love the rambling discussions.

starr

i'd love to hear you interview machinery of the human heart !!

Evan Miller

There are so many times during this that Will sounds exactly like Dan Avidan

Evan Miller

Okay last comment from me on this post cause I finished the episode, LOVED listening to the interview as well as the interspersed random rants, all very entertaining. Definitely influenced me to check out the other podcast as well as Chris’ works (congrats you influencers!)

Bonnie Hazen

Ummmm hey , Is there any way to watch the live stream QnA afterwards? I missed it. 😞

Stepswitcher

You can put me on the show, Will, I don't mind! My second choice however would be your Mario
