March 2021 Report (Patreon)
Content
Good afternoon, everyone!Right now in Hong Kong, it's 2:58 PM on Friday, April 2nd, 2021.
Hmmm... There really isn't any news to speak of today...But... Oh!
A sock I've been looking for forever turned up behind my washing machine. It's one of my favorites!
Err... Oh dear. I guess that doesn't really qualify as "news", does it?
That's all for now. I hope you all enjoy the lovelist of lovely days!
...
Okay, in all seriousness, the past few days have been a complete grind for me. And April marks the final month of work for my graduation thesis! So like I said, please hang in there a little longer. I still hope I get to finish all the currently planned videos in the latter half of this year.
However, I couldn't just let April 1st pass without doing the annual April Fools video...
The Nintendo 3DS User Agreement
Honestly, I don't know what more needs to be said lol, it's exactly what it says on the tin. My throat hurts though.
There have been multiple ideas for April Fools videos that I've tossed around in the past few years, but this feels like the more suitable one to do this year given my current schedule! Hope you guys at least had a laugh out of that.
Since there's not much to report in terms of YouTube progress, I figured I'd show off some things I've added to my collection over the past few months that I may not have fully talked about on Twitter!
First up are these not for resale DS cartridges! The DS Download Station carts, for those who don't know, were used in store kiosks to distribute game demos and videos via Download Play. While there are plenty of comprehensive videos on the subject, it would perhaps be an interesting thing to look at on my second channel as well! The Nintendo DSi XL Demo Video carts are simply looping trailers of games, but they are one of the few physical DSi-exclusive game cards! Sort of reminds me of that one demo cartridge made for the Game Boy Color, although just slightly less cool.
Next is the GBA Wireless Adapter, most notably bundled with several GBA Pokémon games as a link cable alternative! I don't play Pokémon games myself, but wanted to get them for use with the GBA NES/Famicom ports, as well as the Bit Generations series of games which exclusively use the wireless adapter for multiplayer! I always wondered if someone could figure out a way to send third-party content to one of them, similar to how DS Download Play can be exploited through Wii to DS communications.
Last but not least is the GBA e-Reader! I've always been interested in having one of those, but a lot of dumb factors stood in the way of me getting one. For one, e-Reader cards are region locked, so only Japanese units can read Japanese cards and vice versa for American units. Secondly, while I've found several Japanese e-Reader units on sale before, e-Reader cards in comparison were just near-impossible to find locally. If I try to look for them online, I can only find American cards for sale, and those along with the American e-Reader demand some pretty ridiculous shipping prices from the US. So what eventually made me bite the bullet was being able to find a Japanese unit, alongside a Game & Watch Manhole card plus a set of Pikmin 2 puzzle cards! I do hope I can eventually find more cards outside of these though, maybe even find an American variant if I'm lucky enough...until then, while this may not be enough material for a unique video, it's still a neat little thing to own!
That'll be it for the March report! I sure hope I can have some good news about personal studies to share next month...
