God, seeing those old Kaizoku-Fansubs subtitles makes me feel old. It's been a hell of a ride. Also, Mayumi Tanaka (Luffy's VA) has a set of pipes on her.

iirc, the intro with the VA's singing We Are is the episode after when Merry saves the crew in Enies Lobby, the Merry's goodbye episode. I could be wrong i havent watched the ep+intro in a while

I agree that 'We Are' and Opening 14 are super special, other than that I think I have a soft spot for Bon Voyage (opening 4 I think?) for both song and visuals. I think the worst spoiler other than Robin being in the crew is the Luffy vs. Usopp fight, with the opening airing when they were still at Long Ring Long Land! Crazy! If you love the casual outfits and recreation, there's loads of illustrations from the manga that many of the opening scenes are inspired by - especially Opening 12! They're collected in these lovely hardback books called Colour Walks! The first 2 cover up to the end of pre-timeskip. Not sure if there's an easy way to look at them online for reaction purposes but they're there to enjoy :) Also as this is a long comment, fun fact I don't think I've seen mentioned here: Luffy's shirt often has 56 on it because the kanji for 'Gomu' can be read as 5 6 (or something like that, I don't know Japanese). He has a few shirts with it on in the openings so it reminded me. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!

That was such a nice and much needed nostalgia trip! You should try all the endings next time. Sadly there aren't that many because they stopped doing endings midway through the Enies Lobby arc. Thankfully brand new endings have returned to the anime quite recently, but that won't be until way way later for you. Look forward to it :) And btw, the version of "We Are" with all the Strawhats singing only aired for about 5-ish episodes during Enies Lobby. It was a chunk of filler episodes recapping all the character's backstories. Right after the crew shot the flag and crossed over the broken bridge to Enies Lobby.

“We Are” sung by the Strawhats crew and Op 14 are my favorites too. They are all so good tbh. My favorite scene is at 16:07 where Nami is wearing Luffy’s Straw Hat. Idk, it just brings back memories and shows a deep trust they have for one another. It’s so good 😎
