One Shot Wednesdays -Black and White (Patreon)
Content
I wasn't able to get to a one shot this week mostly because I thought I would be posting a work-in-progress 😅😅😅 oops I wrote down the wrong thing for my to do list so here is some speed writing I did a while back I don't recall putting it onto Patreon but if I did apologies! The prompt was basically what happens if when you meet your soulmate the world turns colour but when you lose them it goes back to black and white?
People say the colours that you’re able to see after finding your soulmate is only an extension of the magic that love brings to one’s life. When you’re in love the world just seems a brighter place anyway so perhaps the colour is just another way to show that love brings a joy to your life.
Of course the dullness of black and white further proves that.
But imagine if you will the darkness that follows when you lose sight of the colour. Figuratively. Literally. Darkness. Devoid of colour.
That’s what happened to me. Depression /is/ a dark blanket and it covers /everything/.
I was at work in the office. I was bringing some papers over from the copier back towards our group when suddenly the world seemed as though it had tilted and I tripped. Papers spewed from my hands as I stumbled forward and righted my balance.
“You okay?!” Steph exclaimed as she caught me.
I blinked and looked up at her trying to clear my vision which seemed had darkened for a split second. Things came clear in mere seconds. I looked up into her eyes and suddenly wondered where the blue had gone. Why had her hair gone grey?
Oh God.
My knees couldn’t support me anymore.
/He was gone./
Few words are needed to describe the rest following. I’m sure you can imagine the emptiness and the life of dreadful black and white that seemed even darker and in starker contrast to each other than they had before I’d met /him/.
Only, last week things were all at once turned towards the sun it seemed. I was standing on the train and made eye contact with someone. Out of instinct I smiled gently and went to look away –not wanting to seem rude. Only, he smiled back and I noticed evergreen glint from his eyes.
I still haven’t regained all sight of colour but it seems love can be given second chances. It seems it’s possible to find someone who is as close to a soulmate as you can have when you have none in this world.
His world was turned black and white when he was a teen. It seems life can be crueller than it was to me.
But it also seems life doesn’t mind correcting its mistake and putting you in the path of evergreen; a promise; a forever promise.
