Welcome to another installment of Whatcha Brewin' Britt? today: September 15, 2021

***DISCLAIMER: I am not being paid to advertise any of these teas; I'm just a tea lover who likes to share what I love with others.

Brew name: Christmas MorningBrew Blend: Black tea, jasmine green teaBrew Brand/Makers:  StashSize of cup: about 12 ounces, though I drank a quarter of it at lunch before starting up with my writing ;)Thoughts on Brew: I've already spoken about this brew here but I'm at the point where I don't know that I'll spend the money for this tea again since it tastes a lot like my Ceylon tea and a bit like a regular black breakfast-type tea all of which I can get for much cheaper ;)What's Brewin' On the Backburner: I AM SO FKIN PUMPED! I've been hard at work behind-the-scenes in editing and sprucing up A Promise Kept in preparation for its publication to arrive in early 2022. Well today I have decided IT IS DONE. It still needs some formatting (do we put in cool little symbols or pictures to break up parts of chapters and scenes? I'd like something pretty so I've not yet done it myself as it can affect the e-book) but otherwise I think the story is solidly completed (again) with proper changes to spellings, grammar idiosyncrasies and so forth! People who have read this novel in the past I think will find that it now has much more detail to support an already compelling story. Forget the editor who refused to work with me claiming I needed more training on how to write a story and develop it. "My concern is that you may have lost sight of the fact that your readers don’t know as much as you do about these characters you have “lived with” for so long." they say as a piece of proof that I've done a weak job. Well, that's where you're mistaken: they don't need to know my characters as well as me to enjoy this story. Yes, I've made additions to help with that, but my story was not and is not lacking, as you say, "the big picture". Having not read the entire manuscript I don't consider them qualified to make that brazen call but I appreciate the feedback.

There's a reason why the novel opens with so little information about the characters and all that is going on. I have added more detail to help it with clarity, but out of all the queries I had assembled and got sample edits back from editors, that particular editor was the only one entirely convinced that the telling not showing was completely ineffective. So I kept the novel's opening as it was (with the added additions). I'll let readers decide for themselves whether I made the right call.

I'll update you lovely patrons as time goes on regarding my next steps in my publishing process! I will tell you I have added the book to Goodreads as a precursor for the next steps but please don't go searching it out yet until I get all of the proper information linked to it (and my author profile verified)! The current entry has the potential to be deleted or severely altered so I don't want any confusion. But I wanted to tell you about starting my journey as an author on Goodreads because I'm excited by it!

Well, that's all for today! Momentous day! I'm going to celebrate with cake (that is leftover from 2 family members' birthdays -but still haha)!

PS tomorrow is the main character, Shimi's birthday. Happy Birthday, girl. I hope I've done you and all the rest of your friends proud. Hard to believe you're 37 tomorrow; writing you at the age of 15 is quite a jump in time but that's when your story began. <3

Love,

Britt xoxo
