The hosts do not have mechanical parts at all. They are made out of biological materials as you’ve seen them being essentially 3d printed and they’ve explained that they’re made from flesh and sinew and muscle etc. the reason Delores had mechanical parts was because she is one of the oldest hosts in the park which was mentioned early on. So she is an “old model” essentially Bernard is built off Arnold’s psyche though and is essentially a version of Arnold that ford could control since he and the real Arnold had different philosophies. Arnold had been obsessed with creating consciousness and the synethetic Arnold also developed the same obsession despite ford’s programming. He was able to break free to an extent and pursue his underlying personal will that was part of his original “soul” if you will. This is why ford says Arnold/Bernard is the greatest threat to the hosts and not him because Arnold believes the hosts should be able to feel and gain autonomy but ford believes that that is a cruelty to the hosts because he knows humans will never treat them equally so they are better off not knowing. The board wants to get rid of ford because they feel he is a liability. They spelled it out for you, she said all the guests want is a warm body to fck or shoot. She thinks ford is too close to playing with god and it’s dangerous and he’s too difficult to control. This show is all about competing motives at all different levels, from the oppressed slaves, to the guests, to the employees, to the board/investors, to the creators. Everyone is motivated by their own goals and philosophies and moral compass. That’s what makes the show brilliant and realistic because it really explores the central issue from every possible angle and scale and you can understand each conflicting point of view.

The reason Dolores had mechanical parts is because that scene took place in the past, when all the hosts had mechanical parts. Now Dolores would be like any of the other hosts.
