Great reaction as always! I think you guys may have missed in the last episode where the tech guys explained to Maeve that none of the hosts can leave the park because they have an explosive embedded in their spine that will detonate if they try. Felix rebuilt Maeve at the beginning of the episode and removed the explosive, but they didn't rebuild the 2 hosts who helped her escape (Hector & Armistice) so they couldn't leave the park with her anyway... that's the main reason why Maeve left Hector at the elevator.

The big plot twist was that the viewer is just as misinformed as the host. The host keeps having memories flashed in their minds and they dont know whats past/present. Meanwhile the viewer is seeing past/present of William and the show makes you believe its all happening now. Also upon a rewatch you see all the details that forshadow William is the man in black. Dolores is interesting too since you realize shes speaking to Arnold rather than Bernard.

The best thing about this finale is that it makes the entire season even better on rewatch ! You get to see all the clues that were hidden in plainsight and figuring out the timelines upon rewatch is so fun

I always interpreted Maeve getting off the train as her actually exercising her free will and making her first choice for herself. She’s explicitly told by Bernard that every step has been planned for her (by Ford, but they thought Arnold). It stands to reason she was programmed to get on that train. Ford’s new narrative is all about the hosts finally gaining consciousness, making choices for themselves and freeing themselves. When you watch it back, Ford is talking about “the choices they'll make” over top of her coming to the realization she wants to get off the train, and then she does. It’s her finally finding the center of the maze, not not being ready to free herself. It’s her moment the way Dolores’ is when she’s talking to herself.

100% Everything was scripted to get her onto the train and escape the park. But the 15 minutes waiting for the train to depart gave her time to see the random mother and daughter and sit there reflecting on her own wants. Getting up, getting off the train to go seek out her daughter was her first real meaningful conscious choice… a parallel to Dolores’ first real conscious choice of killing Ford.

In the end of this episode Dolores become Wyatt the new character what was before atleast that what Ford wanted to write this new story for her and she will lead the season 2 also William and Charlotte are not death hope i helped you to relieve the confusion a bit <3

That’s why I love Westworld. The writing is excellent, and the philosophical themes it raises about consciousness, free will, and the nature of reality and existence are incredibly deep and interesting. On top of that, it has an amazing cast, and the acting is top-tier.

Interesting that Ford created Bernard to look like and sound like Arnold so Dolores would think he was Arnold. Also, convenient for Ford to have Dolores kill Ford so he didn't have to own up to it. The William reveal was cool but cruel at the same time. He went from a congenial person who cared for Dolores and wanted to protect her, to getting rid of his future brother in law and despising Dolores in the end. I think it finally sunk in she wasn't real after he saw her get stabbed and not bleed so he could justify abusing her mentally, physically, and sexually. Something about his 30 years in the park really corrupted him.

Oh, the misunderstanding of our queen Maeve😭 It's also so funny calling Felix an idiot when on my watch experience, my brother and I were cheering and calling him the goat lmaoo; such a huge difference. He was such a nice, decent human compared to most of those sicko employees🤮

i think you guys completely missed out on several key things surrounding maeve's escape. her plan to escape required a complete rebuild of her body. spesifically to remove the explosive device that acted as a piece of her spinal cord. this is a device that is installed in all hosts, to avoid a scenario where they would escape or be stolen from the park. in order to get her whole team out it would require a complete rebuild of all of their bodies, and this would be impossible to do incognito. i first noticed you missed out on it at the start of the episode but it became apparent at the elevator scene. she wanted to bring them with, but you must know, there was no other way to do this successfully <3. don't hate maeve. hate the builders
