I agree with Spartan, Dominique Tipper gives an incredible performance. Her scene with Cyn gets me everytime.

Hi guys. I would highly recommend the YouTube podcast called ‘Ty and That Guy’. It’s an officially sanctioned expanse podcast presented by Wes Chatham, who plays Amos and Ty Frank, who is one of the authors of the books. Really insightful and funny. Wes is nothing like Amos. He’s quite easy going and funny and Ty is your perfect kind of geek. I think you’ll really enjoy it. Obviously don’t watch any of the episodes covering what you haven’t seen yet. Naomi exhales right before she jumps. If she hadn't, her lungs would have exploded. The science fiction part is the super oxygenated blood she injects to keep herself conscious long enough to make it across. We don't have anything that can do that today. But in Expanse world, that has been invented.

Opening changes: -Replacing Tycho Station is a clip of ships working in an asteroid field. -A growing Free Navy, joined by the Koto and the Serrio Mal, are now traveling past Jupiter. -There are fewer ships outside the Ring Gate, and a ship is seen moving away from the Gate.

Super oxygenated blood is actually used today in SSO2 therapy (for heartattacks), HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) and ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation).

This is a heavy episode indeed and fitting for the Episode Title, "Oyedeng" which is Belta for "Goodbye" Absolutely love the way they wrote this episode up circling back to everything that happened before only for everything to circle right back to the same point. Naomi had to say goodbye once as her only option and she had to say goodbye once again. Coming up to that meeting she saw that there was no hope unfortunately. Marco's grasp of Filip and Cyn. Glad to see you two recognize Marco's manipulations and how he pulled Filip back in after putting him down. Many miss that point and only see Marco putting him down and how there's no way Filip would then be cool with him. Also, good catch with Cyn's horrendous situation where he tried to speak up at least. Unfortunately he had to have known after Marco's shutdown to let her go that there was little left he could do. Someone has already probably said it but the whole deal with jumping out into space has already been studied IRL. It has been found that a human can survive in space without a suit for a short time and that unlike Hollywood, a person doesn't suddenly explode. The syringe she used was "Hyper-Oxygenated Blood" which was introduced in 5x3 with Monica. Love that the item didn't just come from nowhere but was introduced elsewhere first! That gave Naomi just enough extra time to make it to the other ship.

Keon Alexander absolutely nails it as Marco Inaros! The acting is just insane and he really makes you feel it. Then it helps that he was not written as some basic villain but instead he's one with his own twisted nuance. One of the best villains I've seen on screen, there's no super powers, he's not just some outrageous psycho, he's not a creature/monster, no witty lines, etc. AND one of the FEW that was allowed to be successful in his dangerous plan. For me that's why I respect the character even more as one of my all time favorite villains. 100% agree regarding the trio, it was brilliant casting from looks to the chemistry. Could easily buy the idea that these three were a real family!

We also saw it in play in an earlier episode when they rescued Monica. It's something the show does every once in a while. Showing a concept in an earlier episode that will come into play again in a later episode. We saw it last season with Holden taking his cancer meds in the first episode, only to be what cures the blindness in the later episodes.

Whew that scene with Naomi and Filip gets me in tears every time. Dominique Tipper is amazing as Naomi and seeing her adapt this heavy storyline was a joy! She nailed it. The amount of research they put into Naomi’s spacewalk at the end was insane.

Great reaction as always! So happy you guys really appreciate the character drama and the performances of the actors who play Naomi, Marco, Filip and the friend Cyn. I love this season because of how they've interwoven the backstories of our main characters (Naomi, Amos and Alex) into the main plot.

What you are referring to is an oxygen transporter and requires high amounts of oxygen (50-100% compared to 21% in normal air) to be effective. It doesn't provide its own oxygen. What the oxygenated blood in the Expanse does is provide it's own source of oxygen. The brain requires a lot of oxygen. So it's providing its own source of oxygen in large enough quantities to maintain consciousness in a vacuum. That doesn't exist yet. I'm sure it will someday, but it's invented.

The ending of this episode is also documented in the Book Nemesis Games. So I remember waiting to see how they would portray that crazy leap by Naomi and I have to say it did not disappoint! Oyedang means "good bye" so there are many good byes in this episode. Dom Tipper was amazing as were the other actors playing Filip, Marco and Cyn. A heavy episode to be sure but also a truly amazing one!

Its not the first time we have seen someone survive vacuum for a few seconds. We see back in season 1 with the uncle of mateo open his visor to remove a lose wire. While its probably incredibly uncomfortable you would probably have about 10 seconds before you pass out. hence why Naomi used the same kind of syringe they used to save Monica earlier in the season from her low oxygen environment.

Marco is such a manipulative narcissist, it's brutal to watch because it's realistic. There are real people who behave this way in relationships, it's all about controlling those they "love" through rollercoaster emotions and about stoking their own ego. Definitely one of the heavier episodes.

Hey Spartan and Pudgey, this post looks like it got the tag "The Expanse" instead of "The Expanse Uncut," so when searching for content using tags it comes up in the wrong category and is missing from the Uncut category. I know it's in the uncut collection anyway but for people who tend to use the tags, I figured I'd call it out for fixing. Thanks for all that you do!
