Lol 😅 Egg (Aegon) is not the Mad King from GoT. Anyway, Aegon is the fourth son of Prince Maekar, the blond Targaryen we saw in episode 2. Maekar has six children in total: Daeron, Aerion (“the prick”), Aemon (Maester Aemon from GoT), then Aegon (Egg), plus two other daughters—but we won’t be meeting them this season anyway. So Spartin, you were right: Aemon from GoT is Egg’s older brother Aegon and Daeron were the princes who were missing, and now that Egg has revealed who he is, only the eldest son, Daeron, is still missing. UGH I LOVE THIS WORLD

Easton

Egg is actually the grandfather of Aerys II (The Mad King). He is the great grandfather of Rhaegar, Viserys, and Daenerys.

Bartleby

I’m going to spell it out for you since the only one who was anywhere near the target was Spartan when he said Aemon was the brother of Egg who was a Maester at the Wall. And indeed, in Game of Thrones when he died, he called out his brother Egg’s name. Egg is the youngest and missing Targaryen son who his father was worried about in episode 2. Egg is NOT a bastard. He is of noble birth. And we saw Egg’s brother in that tavern in episode 1. Do you get it? Egg and his brother were in that tavern in episode 1 where Duncan meets them. The Targaryen who told Duncan he dreamed of him. Egg came out of the tavern, not the stable. Duncan just asked Egg if he was the stableboy to which Egg didn’t answer.

ShanB

be easy clarifying things that haven't yet been explored in the show. Like what even is this comment

Warsame

I explained the family tree to them they were pretty confused, judging by their reactions about who was related to whom

ShanB

I am literally begging book readers not to ruin this show for me. Like puh-leaseee take your known info to a book club or a chat meant for viewers who have already read the books. The spoilers that go flying around casually are so major and just take something away so let's only discuss what's literally been shown and said per episode as it comes. PLEASE.

Josh Gibson

Agreed let them discover it for themselves. The spoilers on here are insane.

ShanB

wtf…

ShanB

And there’s more like… where are the moderators????

ShanB

Did you need to spell it out or are we all not watching the show to watch the story unfold..?

ShanB

I would advise S&P not look at any of these comments they’re all spoiling the show ‼️

Warsame

Lol what spoilers??? explaining the Family Tree, it’s not a spoiler Specially, when they Are confused in the Reaction about the Timeline

Richiep

cmon guys, you're still not getting it haha

Warsame

The things That Are in the comments it things that has allready been sedd in the show If you pay Attention..

ShanB

Did you read the books?

Josh Gibson

Warsame yassin, you had a comment removed by the moderators on the first episode because you spoiled who someone was, maybe you are not the best judge of what is and what isn’t a spoiler. Egg has been revealed as a targeryen In this episode, and after the episode Spartan and pudgey began speculating and theorising over exactly which Targaryen he is - this does not give you free reign to tell them who he is and who everyone else is, they will likely discover that themselves in future episodes.

ShanB

If you read the books that’s why you’re not confused. Most viewers are likely still confused if they don’t have any additional knowledge of the targaryens to go off of. That’s the point. We watch a show to learn the facts as we go on its way less entertaining when someone explains it via a bland comment

Warsame

I do understand That but the things I sedd is things the has allready been sedd and Confirmed in the show I do know how the story ends but I would Never say That, I will Only clarify things that Are confusing to them

Angel M

Best episode of the show so far. So satisfying to see the scenes from the books to the screen exactly the way they're described. This is literally the Hedge Knight brought to life

Warsame

Okeh what’s spoiler have I Said Now? clarification an spoiler is to different things

ShanB

When you clarify things that have not yet been clarified in the show it’s a spoiler. I’m hoping you can understand that. The gap between this show and GOT has not been fully fleshed out so anything that does that before the show does is A SPOILER. Everyone knows there’s more than one Aegon in the Targaryen family the show is being vague on purpose.

Warsame

I have Only clarify things that have been confirm in the show what Are the spoiler is it?

ShanB

lol it’s laughable how YOU don’t get it. The show hasn’t confirmed anyone will become king a random lady in the camp gave a prophecy. YOU confirmed he will be king because you’re still spoiling the show!

Warsame

Have you watch any of the shows? HOT or GOT, professions in this Universe is a very Big thing and most of them become True… I did not say egg will be come King, I Said egg is not the mad King, because that is what they think that is à clarification, not a spoiler. Thank u

ShanB

It’s my fault I didn’t realize we could block people here. There will be more of you but for now I can just do that. Thank you .

Angel M

It’s more additions than major overhauls. Only thing I didn’t like was the fortune teller scene. Makes people who don’t know the story be lead to expect a certain direction

FullMetal B

Obviously Aerion breaking Tanselles fingers still shows that he is just cruel, but its a little more purposeful in the book because her shows actually involve her using like a marionette type dragon puppet rather than the more theatrical stuff they do in the show. And since he is upset by her show having a dragon lose he broke the fingers she used.

John Neiberger

This show just brings me joy. I'm so glad they're doing such a fantastic job of adapting the book. They've really nailed the tone of it.

RisePhx

People just can’t help themselves. Guys S&P have Google. They could look this stuff up but are choosing to learn through the show.

Tyler Janes

So I agree with Spartan, now that you know Egg is Aegon Targaryen, Remember Maester Aemons final words when he died! “ Egg, I dreamed I was old!” Maester Aemon died at 102 years old.

Tyler Janes

Anything that has been played on TV already is not a spoiler it is a reminder! It also helps them stay on course with the story, if something is from the books the haven’t seen or read would be a spoiler.

ShanB

Yeah Tyler’s blocked too. All good.

ShanB

I gotta be done with the comments at this point if people don’t know what makes a spoiler. I’ll be back to chime in on another show I’ve already seen. Spoiling which Aegon egg is spoils so many things about the show including survival of characters etc. I’m so upset this is not what I signed up for.

KaosDragon

the Mad King’s name wasn’t even Aegon, we are told the Mad Kings name in Game of Thrones. Comments reminding them of that, so they have a better understanding of the world, aren’t the worst thing ever. imo

Nene 🩷

Yeah this generation of Targaryens suck but Targaryens have done great things.

spartanandpudgey

dont stress ShanB we are cautious about which comments we read and are warned if we should skip any etc.

Josh Gibson

They don’t know Egg is Aegon! His name has not been confirmed yet! Spartan and Pudgey had a theory that Egg could be short for Aegon that is all. Go back and watch the episode, It reveals the he is a Targaryen and Aerion’s brother it does not reveal his name. That is why Spartan and pudgey are still considering other people because from their perspective Egg=Aegon is still a theory Everyone just rushed here and felt because the episode reveals he was a Targaryen it was now ok to tell Spartan and pudgey EVRYTHING. Let them find out for themselves.

Tyler Janes

First of all, I’m just as blind as they are. I only know things from what I’ve seen from GOT and HOTD on screen and haven’t read the books 📕. It is called being a community and involving myself in their conclusions. I was agreeing with Spartan and we both could be wrong. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put Egg to Aegon. You need to relax.

Josh Gibson

So what? The show hasn’t revealed his name is Aegon yet. Spartan and Pudgey had a theory Egg = Aegon that’s all they were still considering other theories. Stop spoiling

Sarah Stapleton

lol watching you guys get soooo close during the intro and then still miss it 😂

KaosDragon

confirming their theories, and restating information that was already stated in the original main series of Game of Thrones, including the Mad King’s name that was told to the audience, as a reminder isn’t a spoiler imo. It’d be a shame if they viewed/judged Egg based on the assumption that he will become the Mad King, and let that theory affect how they viewed his character, which is just wrong bc that’s not who he is.

Terje Mickelson

I loved this episode! I was looking forward to your reaction to Egg's song, but it seemed like you didn't catch it. Maybe you did. What a song!

Garrett Serbin

Exactly this is not a spoiler. I knew it was Aegon from the trailer for the show when he says his name is egg. It's a VERY prominent GOT scene that tells you this. If its right in front of you're face & you cant see it then that's on you.

Angry Gorilla

Literally, all people have to do to clarify that misunderstanding is to simply say that the Mad King's name was Aerys. That's all the hint S&P should need to clear things up without getting additional unnecessary information that could or could not be seen as potential spoilers.

Angry Gorilla

It's unfortunate when shows trade subtleties for spectacle. I enjoyed this show quite a bit and I think it does a better job of staying faithful to the source material than most other adaptations, but I do still feel that they make some really cringey decisions just for getting cheap rises out of their audience. One of my main issues with this show (and many HBO adaptations, really) is that they often overdo vulgarity. They make the majority of the characters uncouth and ill-mannered more than they need to, giving little consideration for their upbringing. Egg's actor is a kid and yet they forced him to be more vulgar than his novella counterpart literally for cheap giggles. There are also some set decisions that make no sense. One of the stupidest things I've seen in this show is the jousting event at night. In a medieval society, holding a sporting event for a large audience at night seems beyond idiotic, even with all the gas tank-fuelled fires.
