Jeez, kind of surprised at you both completely misunderstood Deb's motives. She's scared that Dexter, her ONLY family, is going to get closer to his REAL family and further distanced from his adopted family, and she's going to be pushed further away. She already struggles with connecting with him because of his hollowness. She is annoying, but her motives are pretty understandable. Spot on about her subtle resentment at the fact that her Dad spent a lot of time with Dexter and she was excluded.

Deb is deeply insecure it comes off as annoying sometimes but you have to understand where that comes from. She was pushed to the side a lot by her own father and now as an adult she is still always in Dexter's shadow. She cares very deeply about Dexter's opinions and support.
