Gabriel's probably remembering how Rick's group tricked and slaughtered the Terminus people inside the church but just like a typical Christian he's forgetting how he closed the doors and listened to people die. He's got blood on his hands too. At least the blood on Rick's hands wasn't out of cowardice. I understand how one can spiral when there's a loss of faith but jeez, he's being such a two-face whether he realizes it or not.

Gabriel is such a clown imo , they saved this coward and he goes behind their back like the snake he is , I don’t care if he’s struggling. On the topic of cowards , Nicholas is the purest personification of a coward , Glenn’s self restraint to not leave him is why he has the best heart out of anyone in the group, Carol telling Rick about Pete was great , the way it cuts to Rick in the Dark with an insane look in eye , just bc he doesn’t have the beard and Jacket doesn’t mean it isn’t s5 Rick lol . Great reaction tho guys . P.s . Pudgey caught something alot of people miss, Rick is a great read of character and if you rewatch the party scene last ep, Pete kinda snapped at Jesse saying “I got it” , it was an aggressive response imo and Rick noticed it .

Episode Title Meaning: The title "Spend" refers to the heavy price, or "currency", that everyone has to pay with the deaths of Noah and Aiden. Super fun fact ✨️ ; Noahs prosthetic was at the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) in Astoria, Queens, New York Exhibit: The prosthetic was featured in the exhibition titled "Living with The Walking Dead", which ran in 2022 and closed on January 1, 2023. Foreshadowing Music: The song playing from the supply van as the group departs is "Internet Friends" by Knife Party. The lyric "and now you're going to die" is heard over a shot of Noah, eerily foreshadowing his death. Comic Easter Egg: The van used by the group bears a striking resemblance to a van from Issue 61 of The Walking Dead comics, notably sharing a similar bird design on the side. Dialogue Clues: While talking to Glenn, Noah mentions that it has been exactly one week since the events of the episode "Remember," providing a timeline reference for the events within the Alexandria Safe-Zone. Gabriel isn't loosing his faith, he is suffering from extreme guilt. Don't forget, Rick's group knows what he did to his flock, he can't escape what he did when others know.... that is why the gift of strawberries with a note saying 'we are blessed to have you' was so hard on him. He knew it was a lie because of what he did. The last time he spoke to Maggie, on the road, trying to offer her someone to talk to about Beth's death, she said 'You had a job, you were there to save your flock, but you didn't, you hid, don't act like that didn't happen.'

This episode does a great job of showing how different people handle life and death situations. - Eugene overcomes his cowardice in order to save Tara and then everyone else - Aiden genuinely did learn from what Glenn told him and was being more mature and careful on the second run with the survivors. He genuinely just got unlucky with the soldier having a grenade on him. In his final moments, he admits what he had done and tells Glenn to leave him. - Tobin takes responsibility for not being braver and cedes control over to Abraham, which shows his humility. - Nicholas gives into his cowardice, condemning his own friend to death and causing Noah's.

I read somewhere that before that the writers were going for the diversity angle for the show and the group but they had gone too far with it, so it was time to kill off a few non white characters. Bob, Noah and Tyrese recently.
