HONZA

Hands down one of the best episode from the show. Intense from start to finish. Here comes NEGAN!

Golladan

Ok good! Now everybody pose!

Gypsysoul

6x9 fun facts! Comic Book Accuracy: The episode is a direct adaptation of the "No Way Out" arc in the comics, specifically featuring the long-awaited death of the Anderson family and Carl losing his eye. 🫠✨️ A "Dummy" Carry: During the intense scenes where Rick carries an unconscious Carl through the walker herd, Andrew Lincoln was actually carrying a dummy of Chandler Riggs. A First for Child Deaths: This episode marks the first time a child character (Sam Anderson) was shown being devoured alive on-screen, differing from previous child deaths like Sophia (off-screen) or Meghan.(mika¿) Edited Out Plotline: Chandler Riggs confirmed that a scene was scripted and filmed for Carl to lose his eye while jumping in front of Rick to protect him from Ron, but this was edited out, resulting in the accidental shooting in the final cut. The Wolf's Redemption: Owen (the Wolf) who was holding Denise hostage, saves her from a walker and later dies saving her, redeeming himself. Carol kills him immediately afterward. A "No Way Out" Detail: The title refers to a line by Tara, but also highlights that the residents were trapped in their homes with no way out, ultimately forcing them to fight. Glenn's Rescue: The way Abraham and Sasha save Glenn in this episode mirrors the way they saved him back in Season 4, Episode 15 ("Us"). Massive Herd Fight: The final scene, where Rick and the Alexandrians fight the walker herd, is widely considered a highlight of the series and is inspired by the comic storyline where they stop hiding and fight back. My back in the day memory take; [Those shots were also used for this seasons trailer back then🏆. Shot in front of a black screen, everyone got their individual chance to "show what they got" for the compilation. I love how Ricks seems to hit the hardest and is then used as the last shot or 'final blow' 🥹 makes my heart swell ❤️] "No One Clocks Out": Eugene Porter gives an iconic speech ("No one gets to clock out today. And hell, this is a story people are going to tell"), highlighting his growth as a survivor. Directing Talent: The episode was directed by Greg Nicotero, the show's executive producer and special effects makeup artist. 🪙 Carls eye explained; The angle the gun was shot at made the bullet graze Carls temple/eye socket area. And it was actually the bullet fragments shattering that 'took' out his eye. 👁 💥 Keep up the epic work 🤩

This ep literally feels like an avengers movie😂

Golladan

So you mean to tell me, all this time, they could have just fought off the walkers?

Golladan

The bullet grazed Carl right above the cheekbone. The splinters from the shattered cheekbone damaged his eye.

Bill B.

LEGENDARY!!! And an emotional roller coaster!!!

the continent

the bestttttt episode! It sounds bad but sam was a liability....and that meant his family was too. The people who wanted to live...they did it. Everyone stepped up. things change from this moment on.

HONZA

I always thought it ricocheted from the ground because the gun was pointed downwards. But yeah, wasn't a clean shot for sure otherwise it would've killed Carl.

Natalie-Anne

The W guy saved more than just one life that night. I felt for him.

Natalie-Anne

This ep is one of the greats still many more to come 😍

StevenFromNJ

sam dying is amazing every word he said i was hoping he'd get got lmaooooooooo not to be a kid hater but so satisfying. family was so cooked

Joe Lazarus

Boy, Do I have a feeling we're getting close....

Zane Platt

To Spartan, you should actually be blaming Carol. She tormented Sam and that is why he freaked out. Carol is pretty much proven wrong again and again and again this season. That is her arc. She was wrong about the Alexandrians, she treated Sam horribly and she was wrong about the Wolf. The point of showing Sam thinking about what Carol said is to explicitly show us what Carols words caused. She is responsible for what happened to Sam and Jessie

Zane Platt

My controversial opinion is that this episode is what the Game of Thrones 'Long Night' episode thought it was being But it just worked so much better here.

Fara

I feel like it's worth pointing out that, since they're not gonna mention it, there's gonna be a 2 months time jump in the next episode.

Ririn

Honestly, putting all the blame on Carol is missing the whole point of the show. The entire Carol/Morgan arc is there to show that neither of them is 100% right or wrong. Regarding the Wolf (Owen), Carol acts out of pure survival instinct to protect Denise. To her, this guy is a killer, period. While Morgan was right that he could change (since he ended up helping Denise), Carol wasn't wrong to want to eliminate a direct threat either. If Owen had killed Denise instead of helping her, Carl would have died at the infirmary. It’s a catch-22, and that’s exactly what Carol realizes on the balcony: both perspectives have their own logic. As for Sam, saying she’s responsible for his death is a bit of a stretch. She couldn't have predicted the walker invasion when she scared him to keep the guns a secret. Sam’s death is a chain of bad calls: he refused to go with Gabriel, and Jessie agreed to keep him in the horde even though he was terrified. It’s tragic, and Carol definitely feels guilty, but she isn't the one who killed him.

James Waters

The shot with Carl is just iconic, taken straight from the comic, one to one.

Korivex

I kind of put a bit more blame on Jessie and Carol for what happened to Sam. It was Carol's words that came flooding into his mind in that moment. He was terrified and his mom did nothing to help him understand. He didn't even understand who or what the monsters were. He was asking Carol if the W guys were the monsters or if killing made you into a monster. The kid wouldn't even come down stairs and instead of going into his room to talk about it all... she just leaves him a plate of cookies at his door... why not bring the cookies in and have a conversation and answer his questions. In the previous episode we see Sam drawing a picture of himself being tied to a tree with monsters coming up to him.... the image of what Carol said to him. He is just a kid and the adults around him failed him.

Zane Platt

Nothing I love more than being condescended too... I never put all the blame on Carol, I said the point of this season is to show how often her mindset is actually wrong (which it is often is this season) It contrasts with how she and Rick were right in how they dealt with Terminus in season 5 It is quite literally the focal point of Rick and Carols arcs this season. The show goes through explicit lengths to show that while their thought process has been right so often outside, it is more often than not wrong in Alexandria Also, I never said she is entirely wrong or that Morgan is entirely right. My point is that her attitude and moral outlook backfires badly this season For instance, if she had met Morgan instead of Rick, Michonne and Carl back that town. She would have killed him and that would have meant Morgan wouldn't have been able to save Daryl and Aaron And if she hadn't talked to Sam how he did, he very likely wouldn't have freaked out the way he did. The show couldn't have made it more obvious that Carols words were what caused that. It quite literally has her words playing before he died 🤣 The entire point of the season is that just like Morgan's no kill rule has positives and negatives, so does Carols Spoiler But Carols arc in then next season or two very directly proves my points right and counteracts yours. She feels tremendous guilt and responsibility for what she caused

John Neiberger

I was just thinking exactly the same thing.

Zane Platt

Absolutely. Carol let her previous pain cloud her judgement and treated Sam really badly. She basically tormented the poor kid. Meanwhile, Jessie is so caught up with everything else going on in her family and in her life that she doesn't properly recognize what is truly going on with Sam and how damaging it could be They are definitely the main cause for why Sam falters and it is kinda weird how people just put the blame on the kid haha

ericg0724

I love yall reactions! Happy you guys got to see this epic comeback by Rick fighting at the end. 🫡

Elliot

I had forgotten how good that episode was. Sooo good. Great reactions too guys

Elliot

I vaguely remembered Sam dying from when i watched it years ago but I thought it was earlier when he kept stupidly calling his mums name when they first left the house.

Elliot

Sam is old enough to have some common sense. He had no reason to expose himself to the walkers. Even fear. If a walker had bumped into him or knocked him down by mistake, fair enough for his reaction. But he lost it when things were working well. No place for weakness in The Walking Dead world. It's a shame his mother couldnt hold it together when he got taken but I guess its pretty realistic.

Elliot

I don't blame Carol at all. She is trying to create toughness in the people around her, which is needed for survival. Eugene is lucky she hasnt put a bullet in his head yet. No place for softness in this world.

Elliot

Good result then for Carol. Sam wouldve got others killed sooner or later.

Elliot

In many fight scenes I have thought this. Form a line and slaughter them. They are slow and stupid. If everyone is watching each others back, should be a massacre. Exhaustion is the real killer.

Makeeba

In the midst of quick thinking without drawing attention to yourself, yes, it was necessary for Michonne to put a sword through Ron instead of snatching his gun.

Makeeba

This is one of my top favourite episodes imprinted in memory. The intensity throughout and the shock factor we all got of having Jessie and Sam mauled to death the way that they were. Carl losing his eye, gosh! Too much to say the least. Maybe an unpopular opinion here, but in Sams death, i saw the intentions for Carol to toughen up another kid with the reality to survive backfiring. Some kids like Carl can adapt, unfortunately for Sam he just wasnt able to with that message.

Makeeba

I agree. Thats why they always say be careful what you tell children. 😂 i know, in the world they live in, that message is not their reality to go by. In my previous comment, even with the limited knowledge that he had, Sam may have just not been built to adapt but giving it the benefit of the doubt here for a sec, I know Jessie meant well for her child, but the expectation from him was also too abrupt. Imagine being sheltered your whole life as you know it in a "safe" town and then your mom suddenly tells you to be brave or "pretend" without teaching you while still living there how to protect yourself with a gun or if too young for that matter having an in depth conversation with you about whats happening around you. As a parent, Jessie did try to manage her own emotions around it and put her children at ease without panicking them and im not slamming her completely because i did like her character a little but for a child, the expectations were rushed.

Alissa

Been waiting for this reaction and you guys did NOT disappoint! One of my favorite episodes of TWD ever!! Loved seeing everyone fight for Alexandria

Richiep

this is worrying lol

David Seaman

This is the one I’ve been waiting for. This is peak TWD imo

Tyler Janes

Pudgey’s comment: “Of course they are going to show up when everyone is about to die, and not a moment sooner!” Had me rolling on the floor! 😭😂

Tyler Janes

Jessie’s death for me was really unsettling, I didn’t recover for weeks, and I had so much hope for them as a couple!! The comic book version was even worse!

LunarioVT

One of my favorite episodes, so glad I get to re-watch this journey with you two.

Emma R.

I couldn't wait for these next episodes to make it to Youtube so take my money! I personally didn't like the relationship between Rick and Jessie at all so I was kinda glad when she died. Oops. But the way she and her kids died was horrible.

Ririn

Not being condescending at all, just debating. I see your point about the writers' intent with Sam, but there’s a difference between being a cause and being solely responsible. Sam was fragile, and his death was the result of a chain of bad collective calls, not just Carol’s. Regarding Season 3, anyone would’ve shot Morgan because he shot first. Rick almost did until he recognized him. Carol would’ve just been protecting her people. If we’re doing 'what ifs', let's not forget that without her radical choices at the prison, she never would’ve been in a position to save the entire group at Terminus. We agree that both methods have flaws. SPOILER: But to me, Carol’s guilt in the following seasons proves her humanity, not that her instincts were 'wrong.' It’s just the mental toll of trying to keep everyone alive." ( just my opinion)

Guilherme G.

I have no original thoughts, cause that is EXACTLY what I was thinking during this episode (specifically the scene where everyone comes together to fight)!! Probably one of my favorite TWD episodes, and it could've also been my favorite GOT episode.

Zane Platt

Yeah, no. The kid had literally never seen a walker in his entire life before that day. Your argument of no place for weakness is also very dumb because Carl was as weak as any other kid and messed up constantly, he was just bailed out by the adults around him which is what should have happened for Sam (but they failed him) Combine that with what Carol said and his freak out was 100000000% justifiable He never had any role model the way Carl had

Zane Platt

It was that exact scene you are talking about that made me think of it as well haha While I get that Game of Thrones is generally considered the stronger show in totality, this episode does the stand together against overwhelming forces a lot better than the 'Long Night' did

Athraxz

Rick didn't just go out in blind rage, the walkers were swarming the house and he needed to get them away

Lumen

that is not true.

Lumen

saaaaaaaaaame

Lumen

Very well said, Ririn!! 👏

Lumen

Ririn wasn't condescending to you, Zane, they simply explained why you were wrong. Those two are not the same thing and you just thought that because like most humans you didn't like being corrected because your ego is too fragile to handle it. Get over yourself. And you *are* wrong. You said Spartan should blame Carol, then you get corrected and you backtrack saying you didn't say aaaaalllll of the blame should be placed on Carol. Ok, then why did you only mention her? I mean, literally in the same comment you're backtracking saying you're not saying Carol is fully to blame for Sam you also say "if she hadn't talked to him the way she did he very like wouldn't have freaked out". But no, you aren't putting all of the blame on Carol. nooooo!!! hahahah Bitch, please! And Carol's mindset was not wrong this season at all. You grouped her with Rick saying they were both wrong but Rick is the only one who was. He made it very clear that he thought the Alexandrians couldn't become part of his group, that they had been sheltered too much and for too long to learn and quite literally at the end of this episode he admits he can see he was wrong, which I know you know but im just reiterating this to say that that was ricks thing, but not carol's, and the only thing he was wrong about. Carol, on the other hand wasn't wrong about anything. As far as the Alexandria's go she simply said they were children and she was right about that. Then she played miss little housewife because that was her obvious cover so she could go unseen and blend in so she could be on the ready upon joining a new group in case things went awry. But her whole thing is if you care about people hen you have to be willing to kill for them and she is 100% right about that. Her moral outlook never backfires. Also, Carol's (and everyone else's except for Glenn) willingness to kill to protect the ones she loves vs Morgan's newly adopted philosophy are their story arcs, NOT the entire point of the season. SPOILER OF SORTS-------->>>>>>>>>And your las spoiler sentence regarding future seasons only further prove how you are missing the point. The continued story arc in question is simply the coherent progression of the story arc of the character in question who then will suffer the burden of the things you have to do and go through in this world, esp when you are someone who started at the point they did. Those future seasons (well, really only season 7) show a natural progression for that character (a progression that has been guiding up since season 4) before they go back to killing to protect because that is what you need to do in this world as we all know. Its the struggle for he balance between when to kill and when not to kill that Morgan's journey is about and finding the strength to carry the burden that it is to care for other people that is Carols journey.

Zane Platt

Telling someone they are missing the whole point of the show simply because they have a different pov is the definition of condescending Definition: behavior that shows a superior, patronizing, or arrogant attitude, treating others as if they are less intelligent... So with all due lack of respect, maybe get a dictionary or move your fingers on google next time you want to interject yourself Ciao

Lumen

No, Zane, it's not. It's funny how you literally write the definition right there while STILL having a complete lack of understanding. And all the while ACTUALLy being condescending yourself! That was really chefs kiss 🤌 lolol So, ill just reiterate the definition here so hopefully you will read it to yourself out loud and start trying to understand -----> To be condescending is to have or show a feeling of patronizing superiority (such as what ive been doing to you and you did to mr just now. 🙂 Also like when you added that laughing emoji on your penultimate paragraph to Ririn before the spoiler paragraph). At no point did Ririn show superiority. At no point did they talk down to you. If you have missed the whole point of something, being told that is simply correcting a mistake you made. Just take your ego out of the equation and you will understand the difference.

Lumen

Also, I'll copy and paste my previous comment to you here because by the time I was done editing it you had already written your reply so you prob haven't read it in full. Not that you would, I figure you are one of those kids who thinks its edgy to show aloofness by saying you haven't "bothered to read someones comment", but hey, here's to giving you the benefit of the doubt! 🍸 Ririn wasn't condescending to you, Zane, they simply explained why you were wrong. Those two are not the same thing and you just thought that because like most humans you didn't like being corrected because your ego is too fragile to handle it. Get over yourself. You writing Russian novel sized paragraphs to have a go at someone is geneuinely super duper super creepy haha Hopefully you look at your life and ask how you have the time or capacity to go on unhinged, mentally unstable rants over something as innocuous as me disagreeing with someone (who wasn't even you) Wishing for a long and healthy mental health rehabilitation process for you

Zane Platt

Only mentioned her because she is the main component in what happened and the show very, very, very explicitly makes that clear with her future arc and painfully clear decision to have her words play while Sam is walking among the walkers Honestly, though, I genuinely find you really off-putting and very unstable. Nothing I said warranted any of what you said. Like I said though, genuinely hope you find stuff in your life that makes you a healthier person mentally Ciao

💜 Hannah 💜

Love this episode, it's one of the best! When Pudgey was shouting "What's going on"... I think my eardrums burst 🤣 powerful!! My ears are ringing after this one 😆 Can't wait to see the next one.. 🙃

Tom

Wheeew… whooo…”

Tom

Better then his next relationship. That one is the worst.

Tom

Same here.

Tom

But she didn't create toughness, instead she crippled that boy, made him even weaker than he already was. She was cruel and stupid, and the kid (and his mom) are now dead because of Carol's cruelty and stupidity.

Paul

I loved Rick and Jesse. They were sweet. What didn't you like?

Paul

If anyone's gone out and tried to hack and slash with axes, machetes, etc... exhaustion is indeed the killer. You tire out way faster than you might imagine, even if you're decently fit.

Mony

They had nothing in common. No mutual strength. She was just a tool to open him back up to the idea of relationships in general again. His next relationship you can see started way back seasons ago if you were looking for it.
