This is the best season of Dexter and I was so sad that they killed Rita off

Janet

Amazing that Showtime kept this ending a total secret. I love season 5 and hope you will too.

"It's already over" it hurts so much because of the ending. Can't wait for season 5. Please don't stop!

Shocking ending!!! I never saw it coming and still tear up every time I watch this season 4 ending. Many Dexter devotees believe this was the best season and it was also the last good season. I’ve been watching from the very first episode, I’ve watched the OG series umpteenth times and I loved them all because each season is a new story (but I also don’t like how they ended the OG series with the last episode). I definitely think you’ll enjoy the rest of the OG series and hope you keep watching all the spin-offs too. I’ll keep watching you two and your Dexter journey, you guys are great… it’s like I’m watching with a couple of friends. ✌🏻🫶🏻

This was a great season THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED IT. It's a hard rewatch because I know all the stupid mistakes Dexter made that ended with Rita's death. It's the only season where he is this dumb, and I hate rewatching it, but enjoyed your watch. Can't wait for 5 and let's get to Dexter: Resurrection which is arguably one of the very best seasons of Dexter of all of them!

This is the episode i’ve been waiting for, peak season

"i wonder if Ritas looking at this same moon, in this same moment" best quote of the whole show

A lot of other show writers would have been scared to killed off Rita. I’m glad the Dexter writers understood that he needed to feel the consequences of his stupidity. He could have let Arthur fall to his death at the construction site. He could have yelled to his colleagues at the precinct. He had so many opportunities to let Deb or even Batista know before things got out of hand and his incompetence led to multiple people dying. Part of me also doesn’t want to give the writers too much credit. When it comes to Dexter killing random people, he’s very quick and efficient. But for some reason, when it comes to him killing the main bad guy, he loves to take his time and “get to know them.” And as a viewer you just have to suspend your disbelief. The same goes for TWD and other TV shows. The bad guy always gets a chance to stick around for multiple episodes while other characters are killed off instantly.

The first time I saw this....it was LATE at night like 2am. It fucked me up so bad I called my girlfriend, woke her up, and had to go see her. I felt like I was gonna lose her. This was one of the worse loses of the series. Rita deserved so much better 😣

i think if he did this in any other season prior it wouldn't have worked but imo because of Rita, and the child, him actually growing to like her instead of it just being a cover and him wanting to be a dad and a good dad and do the right thing couples with the harry situation think it worked that when he saw a guy killing AND has (well wasn't as good as it seemed) what he didn't feel he could have, a family. so idk I think it did make some sense he would try learn from him as he himself grew

Panashe

That’s 100% understandable but this won’t be the last time Dexter knows who the bad guy is early in the season and doesn’t tell anyone while innocent people get hurt. The moment he showed up in the police station, not only did Dexter 1. Not take his tag off but 2. Let a serial killer escape just so he could “chase him in traffic instead.” At that point, it had gotten too far and while yes, Debra and his colleagues would have been upset, it would’ve been better if Dexter told them “I decided to do some undercover work after I thought the trinity killer nearly killed Debra.” He didn’t do anything illegal by not sharing his real name and hanging around Arthur’s family. If anything it would’ve been a better excuse as to why he’s been disconnected from his family. He could have very simply explained himself, especially since Arthur doesn’t know Dexter’s a serial killer. But he was more worried about killing Arthur that all logic was thrown out the window.

Why didn't Dexter grab Trinity's keys and drive off with the van and deal with his hit and run after killing him?
