Jo

I'm sure the discussions here will be pleasant, reasonable, and calm

Brody Reeks

Well here we are, but ngl these movies look amazing!

Joel D. Castro

So excited to continue this watch with you two!

Pony

Haven't brought myself to watch the newer Star Wars. Here we go.

Hank Scorpio

About the only good thing that could be said about them lol

Nathan Jasper

Fuck yes, so happy to be back to Star wars!

DRIP DROP

Im sorry in advance

Cody Beaudin

As Padme said in Episode 3 to Anakin... "You're going down a path I can't follow". Unfortunately, after episode 6 is where I had to part ways with you on this journey..

Sheri

I really enjoyed these sequels and hope you do too!

Brody Reeks

That sweater is dope Spartan. Anakin is the goat and episode 3 will forever be insanely good. Glad to see you are re enjoying Cal Kestis' journey! Those games are so immersive and well done. Love Cal

Pablo

Let's fucking go! Hope you guys enjoy these movies. Episodes 8 and 7 are my favorites after Empire and A New Hope.

Joseph Wells

This movie is actually solid ngl prob better then episode 2 but then it all goes down hill lol

Magnus

watched star wars since I was a kid, saw this one with dad and haven't seen another since, unfortunately. Based on what clips I've seen online, didn't miss out on much :(

Sean K.

i'm really looking forward to andor and mandalorian

Austin

Oh boy lol

Nathan Jasper

Harrison actually wanted Han to die back in Empire, and George said no, and then asked again in Return. Harrison wanted him to have a hero's death, and dying trying to save his son is pretty damn heroic.

David Cansler

Glad to see you are finishing the series. The sequels are great.

Malorie

I love these sequels… I know I’m in minority but I really love them

Branc69

Andor getting closer 😀

Archie

To be honest I did not like this film. Loved the previous films but this just didn’t land for me. Chemistry with characters didn't seem “star warsey” and was cheesy. Kylo Ren and Snook were weak as villains and just didn't command the same presence as Vader and Palpatine. Darth Maul was better and he had hardly any dialogue 🙂. I feel Disney did a bad job.

Cole Troutman

I couldn’t bring myself to do solo but ima hate watch this one with yall

Cole Troutman

lol…. Everyone said GoT season 8 LOOKED great… rings of power looked kinda cool…

Josh M

I actually quite like this one. Similar to episode 4, yes, but the nostalgia did it for me. Plenty of intrigue in the new characters. I'll never forget the buzz I felt leaving the theater. Episodes 8 and 9 are where I have issues, because I think they squander the foundation that was set up here. Also, I don't mind Rey holding her own against Kylo Ren because he was injured and was clearly in emotional distress after killing his father. I don't think he was ever trained to the degree of the characters of prior movies.

MajinVegeta420

11:08 Pudgey - "what the hell ive never seen them like connect in that way before" Spartan - "yeah and focus on a stormtrooper before yeah" Me - Bruh please watch Clone Wars i beg you lol < 3 XD We've BEEN connecting with stormtroopers and clones for the last decade prior to these movies ya'll don't even know lol. I cannot stress enough how much you both will love it especially spartan now that he's more into the universe and lore and wanting more as he was saying at the beginning before the reaction and the amount of canon lore your missing out on without watching it is insane. darth maul for starters as you know lol and that's just one little tiny thing out of literal countless things that i wont spoil.

Sheri

At the end, you guys forgot that Kylo Ren wasn't trying to kill Rey because Snoke ordered Kylo Ren to bring her to him. Plus Kylo Ren was just really curious about her force connection and wanted to test it. Also, he was fighting injured. Chewie shot him with his crossbow right after he killed Han. So for all those reasons he wasn't fighting very hard.

Cooper

They rightfully are gonna have a lot to say about the next film

MateoP

And the 💩 begins 🤣🤣😭 can’t wait for clone wars 📈💯

Hank Scorpio

I'm gonna try my hardest to make it through this trilogy, but it's gonna be REALLY tough. As a lifelong Star Wars fan, these 3 movies are literally offensive to me lmao.

Estevan Rivera

Absolutely died laughing at the Carrie Fisher discussion!! Just an FYI, Kylo Rens lightsaber is purposefully wavy/crackly to represent him and his internal conflict, struggle. Later the official lore was added that the Kyber crystal he's using inside is cracked which results in an unstable blade. I don't hate the sequels but I don't love them either lol

Christopher

I remember enjoying this for what it was when I saw it in theaters, I watched it maybe once since, but this rewatch I really did not enjoy lol I also did not enjoy VIII or IX at all in the moment watching them in Theaters but I thought this one was better than I think it actually is.

Estevan Rivera

Solo is way better than ANY of the *sequel movies what? lol

Nathan Jasper

also, as far as the lightsaber battles are concerned, keep in mind that there's literally no one left to teach either of them. Holding people now to the standards of a time when there were literally thousands of Jedi and literal archives of information is a stumbling block that a lot of people hit. And okay let's not pretend Luke was fantastic, he was clunky as hell lol he got better over time sure. And also Anakin had a natural midichlorian count that was higher than Yoda's even. He had a connection that he couldn't explain. Rey and Kylo neither one have that. They have a connection, sure, but they aren't "Chosen Ones" that were literally blessed from birth. Rey is more open to it while Kylo has all this doubt and anger that's hindering him. I understand where you're coming from and I can agree with a lot of it, just trying to help explain a couple things :)

Terje Mickelson

Love your reactions and your discussions! About Vader and his return to the light; Ben has no idea this happened, and nobody but Luke knows how the Emperor died.

Bramskii

I'll watch this one with you guys, but I promised myself I would never look at the insults that were episodes 8 and 9 ever again. See you back here for Andor haha

Lynda Olson

Couple of things 1)Harrison ford said the only way he would do the movie is if he died in it. The behind the scenes about that scene with Adam driver and Harrison ford r worth watching on YouTube, Adam was terrified to do it, he literally killed everyone’s hero 2)Kylo ren was bleeding to death (chewie shot him in the kidney) when he fought Rey at the end so yeah 3)the stormtrooper who Rey mind tricked was played by Daniel Craig (James bond) 4) Andy serkis (Gollum) plays Snoke 5) Brienne of Tarth plays Phasma!!! 6)carrie fisher has barely acted over the last 40 yrs so she’s out of practice, all the behind the scenes honestly are worth watching, this movie was so hyped and huge it’s worth a watch.

Kayleb Patel

I dont think theyre watching it

Wesker

rewatching this made me realize rey might actually have the most plot armor out of any main character💀

Wesker

rey is literally disney’s chosen one

Ricky

This movie is mid but I enjoy it. I'll be honest though, watching the movie with you guys made me enjoy it even less 😆 or rather made me remember how I didn't enjoy it much. Not excited for the rest, but I still look forward to joining you guys on this journey. That said, I'm mostly excited for Andor and Mandalorian 🔥

Ricky

And no, Leia did NOT die before episode 6 lmao wtf 😂 and she passed away AFTER Rogue One. Also AFTER Episode 7

Ricky

Solo IS better than this lol. But it's a bit boring honestly. This one is fun, but it's a mess and makes me cringe a lot

Miloš 🇷🇸

I can’t wait to see your reaction to Ben and the original actors that aged

Josh

Kylo was trying to seduce Rey into joining him since he was tasked with bringing her to Snoke. Also, did you guys not see Kylo tank a blaster shot from Chewie's crossbow which was established many times to physically launch people? There are many issues in the movies but I don't really think that is one of them. Also, Luke blocked blaster shots after closing his eyes once (wearing the helmet) in Ep IV so Rey getting some confidence with some rudimentary moves isn't unbelievable; neither is Kylo being surprised by it. Try not to let your predispositions to audience reviews taint everything you see in the movies.

Bean

This one was good. Safe but got me excited to see whats next 8 i actually didnt mind. Only one choice of direction i didnt like very much. But 9 was pure…..well lets see what they think

Hans Engelen

Anyone who claims 'The Hobbit' movies were bad is just not tracking right :) And to lop them in with these sequels ... For shame! As for the Light Saber battle ... Oh my god I feel bad for you. Hayden deserved so much more credit then he got.

Miloš 🇷🇸

Is there a play though of your Jedi fallen order somewhere???

Tyler Janes

One thing Pudgey got right that she almosttt but didn’t say, but our minds locked 🔒 The Silver Stormtrooper Commander is Briene of Tarth from Game of Thrones

Miloš 🇷🇸

I wish you had subtitles from Disney. Because at 1:10:12 it’s Obi wan and yodas voices talking to Rey during the vision

James Waters

15 years old, midnight screening of this movie- the first midnight screening i ever went to. Left the cinema and all my friends were like "wasn't that amazing", and I hadn't developed much of a critical eye at the time, but all I knew was deep in my soul I didn't like the movie, and I couldn't articulate why at the time. It just didn't feel like Star Wars to me, and I spent a long time trying to make myself like it, but I just can't. I hope you have a different experience, maybe the fact you're new to this universe will make you less critical of certain aspects or more forgiving of others.

Ricky

They're opinions felt genuine. I don't see how they let their predispositions to audience reviews taint their experience. They usually don't have issues with movies people have issues with (like The Hobbit). Regardless, the saber fight is pretty lame, and Rey being able to do stuff "just like that" is not comparable to Luke deflecting blaster shots and him destroying the Death Star. Besides there are valid reasons for Luke being strong in the Force the way he was (particularly if you watch the movies in chronological order, as they have). For Rey, I can't say anything about the next movies, but for this one, there was nothing that makes her special enough to be able to connect to the Force like that. Like, I get the intention. But it was executed poorly

GodhandJames

Saw all 3 of these in theaters and the theater experience I had for all 3 was great, though, I do not love these movies.

Practially Incarnate

In Ben's defense, he was just shot and he just killed his dad, probably not at his peak, he also didn't want to kill Rey as he was trying to recruit her.

Jason Jannis

To be honest, I also think the lightsabers look the best in the prequels, even though the lightsabers in the sequels look the most realistic, because you can actually see and feel how the lightsabers illuminate their surroundings. You can see this especially well on the characters' faces during the final fight between Kylo and Rey/Finn.

Zavooloo

you dont need subs to hear voices

Wesker

I wish I could throw tomatoes

Wesker

🤮

Wesker

the movies are just bad joshy boy their’s a reason the sequels are known as one of the worst movie trilogies of all time

Wesker

🤮

Wesker

the sequels are garbage and they don’t even like this one sorry to break it to you but ur beloved trilogy is a dumpster fire. I wish I could throw tomatoes 🍅

Louis PG

the reason Kylo Ren isn't a Darth is bcause there was no Sith Lord to give him a Sith Title

TN

I really like these movies and experiencing these with you guys is even better (:

Wesker

no it’s because he’s not a sith

Bramskii

please no. Should be Andor, then first 2 seasons of Mando, and then maybe Maul.

Cole Troutman

See this one got a c+ from me… but it’s like all build up, and NONE of it pays off, which retroactively turned this into a D…

Pablo

I never said the trilogy was beloved to me. Ep 9 is like the worst movie ever made like literally. And 7 is okey. The only great movie here is episode 8 and it's right there on third place behind empire and new hope. Doesn't mean I love the trilogy as a whole but its easy to put these 2 on top of most episodes because well the prequels are all really bad and return of the jedi has the Luke Vader plot to save it but everything else in there is pretty bad. So yeah ep 8 is up there on the top, but not a beloved trilogy at all

Miloš 🇷🇸

On Disney the subtitles say Yoda and Obi Wan when those voices are heard, here it doesn’t say who says them, they didn’t figure out it was Obi wan and yoda, I wish they did

Jonathanese

"No way we lose him in the first movie" Like we lost Qui-Gon, and Kenobi? That's how I see it anyway. I hate losing him, but it does rhyme. And it Harrison Ford requested it for him to return. But it also matches the "echo" like we got in EP 1 and 4. Destroying the droid control ship, destroying the death star, destroying StarKiller base. Having a wise old mentor who introduces the naive new character into the world and gives them just enough before we lose them. But yeah, Ben Solo is a WAY more conflicted character here than past dark-side characters. A lot of them were carrying enough hate, pain, and rage that it kept them dark. But you can tell Ben is being pushed into the dark side rather than pulled by it. That's what I see with his tantrums. That he has to keep enraging himself to keep himself dark. A lot of people don't seem to like him, but I think he's probably the most interesting character. Honestly, I think these movies are almost the anti-Prequels. The prequels were amazing at world-building and showing how the Republic fell. But the effects, while cutting-edge, were ham-fisted. And there was a lot of dialogue that was downright nauseating with delivery like "how tf did they go with THAT take?" This has the opposite. "Oh hey, remember how we defeated the empire? Now there's the First Order, and now we are the resistance again." And lots of "A good story, for another time" which is the life mantra of J J Abrams and his hand-waving. But the effects and sequences are AMAZING, and they did a lot more practical work and the CGI felt more comfortable. And the acting felt WAY more comfortable. So honestly, I do still enjoy these movies quite a bit. I just tend to check my brain at the door, and think of it as "these don't count" and then enjoy them as movies.

Wesker

🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅

Wesker

episode 8 is everything but great🤮

Pony

Of course. We are neat monsters.

EnVy316LeGeNd

yea, these latest movies are complete trash.

Wesker

🤮

SnorlaX

Spartans questions are

SnorlaX

Kylo Ren wasnt fully trained at all.

SnorlaX

Luke looks destroyed bc he felt Han Solo die and Kylo killed him

🌸Foof🌸

I personally really enjoyed this movie 🫡

Alejandro Herrera

I don't blame Disney. I blame JJ Abrams and the writers for basically just re-making the story and not giving us anything new. Disney has made some of the best Star Wars content like Rogue One and Andor. Rebels too

MajinVegeta420

also the fights and lightsaber duels and force power usage in clone wars are the type of fights your asking for/complaining about not having in the discussion after the reaction lol XD < 3 shit is literally GOATED. all i can really say without spoilers lol

MajinVegeta420

I wish i didn't have to worry about spoilers. There's so much/so many things that i could/want to say that would ABSOLUTELY convince you that it needs to be seen, And that it is hands down the best piece of star wars media outside of the movies that you have already seen and the games. Unfortunately i cant even begin to talk about anything until you start the show without spoiling a major character and plot point. For a prime example/For starters 95% of the show is literally about someone that you two don't know yet that is Integral to Anakin and his entire plot his entire character development him in general and everything that happened. And the star wars lore/universe in general. After hearing you complain in the discussion about the 2 padawans in this movie and their fighting and them in general etc etc as well as anakin's rep being tarnished further. I NEED YOU TWO!!!.....NO WE!!! (the community) NEED YOU TWO!!! to see what a REAL PADAWAN is.....lol XD < 3

Alejandro Herrera

Kylo Ren was injured when he fought at the end. Remember he got hit by Chewie's bowcaster and they made a big deal about it earlier in the movie about how powerful it was. It was a direct hit to the gut so I imagine he's using most of his power to keep himself together. How would I explain her being able to use the force to manipulate the stormtrooper is that it's kind of like an animal instinct. Anyways, I have many complaints about these new movies but those aren't some of mine. I was mostly disappointed that it felt like the same thing all over again with the First Order and the Resistance. Anyways moving on to Andor hopefully =P

Zane Platt

Possible Spoiler Territory!!! (Because it delves into what I wish might have happened instead of what actually does) If I had written the sequel trilogy, here is roughly what I would have done Rey is abandoned by her parents because she is showing a really strong connection to the force and can't control it Luke discovers her and takes her in, training her at his secret jedi temple Up to this point, Ben has been Luke's protege, but after Rey's arrival, Luke spends more and more time training her. They build a close father/daughter esque bond Ben grows to resent Rey Snoke (or some other Sith master), connects with Ben through the force and manipulates him by showing him a vision of Rey turning the dark side In my version, there is no first order and no stormtroopers. I am so sick of Star Wars repeating that crap again and again. Besides Snoke (or what Sith leader), the antagonists are a group of people who believe the force is too dangerous to exist (because of what Vader used it for) and have come up with a way to remove people's connection to it. They (and the third of the three leads, with Ben and Rey being the other two leads), spend the film trying to find the academy which Luke has hidden to keep his students safe from this group The group eventually find the academy and launch an attack Luke, Rey, Ben and the padawns hold their own but Luke sacrifices himself to allow Rey, Ben and the few remaining padawans to escape At the end of this first movie, we find out that Ben gave up the location to this group in exchange for Rey but the group double crossed him After the loss of her master and father figure, Rey ends the movie desiring vengeance against this group. The idea being that Bens actions are what begin her push to the dark side (This version of the sequels gives us Luke as a hero, a new antagonist, an actual origin for Rey that makes sense, an arc for her and Ben etc) I don't know how to incorporate Han and Leia though

Michael Weiner

New records were set for drowning out dialogue.

Timmy Saxton

Nah cope. Sith should go crazy even injured with their power literally being their anger. Just lazy writing with this movie

mFFb

The New Republic capital is not Coruscant btw. JJ Abrahms hated the prequels and wanted to see Coruscant destroyed. But thankfully they changed it to be Hosnian Prime. Now the senate rotates between planets to avoid the image of centralization.

Linus Lindblom

Disney wanted a cool lightsaber fight in the end so they tried to justify the power levels between Fin, Rey and Kylo was to have him hurt by the shot of chewbacca and then his lack of composure. But they needed to highlight earlier in the movie that he is still just a learner in the ways of lightsaber battle. He is a strong force user, Like Rey also is but not knowing how to control it to its full extent. We have seen the force guide powerful force users like Anakin and Luke before, even when they where not learned. The biggest offence is Chewie and Leia not embracing at the end. I buy the lightsaber fights feeling a bit more clumpsy as they are not trained in the martial art of saberfights.

SaiChan

think im way too much of a star wars fan to have the hate towards these 3 movies that others do i also think adam driver did a great job as kylo ren, very excited to see your reactions to Andor if we make it there it will honestly shock you how good it is.

Carlos Martinez

These next 3 movies are all the worst movies in Star Wars lore and you can almost guarantee that anyone that likes any of them is a raging liberal and almost certainly supports men in womens sports

TM2

Suffer through two more and it's Andor time

LX

Even the director had a hard time eith Rey becaue it was her first film and he said her acting is very wooden, but she is the definition of a Mary Sue where because she's a modern women character she can do no wrong from the writers. She's the funniest sweetest smartest, better pilot than han and better mechanic than chewing. More wise than Yoda and better fighter than luke and anakin with no training. It only gets worse

LX

Countless things make no sense and need explanation but rey hugging Leia who she has never met to comfort her because solo is dead and walking right pass chewing makes zero sense

John Neiberger

I know it's too late to warn you, but the best idea is to stop with this movie. :(

John Neiberger

Yep, especially the next one. I saw it in theaters when it came out and I'm still mad about wasting the money.

N7Phoenix115

*This is not a spoiler* I tried reading through to see if anyone mentioned or cleared it up but did not find anything so far. Princess Leia, (actress Carrie Fisher), was alive and filmed all of her scenes herself for Episode 7 & 8. Filming had wrapped on 8 but production had not begun on episode 9 when she passed. So she herself was not alive to film scenes for Episode 9. :(

N7Phoenix115

Also shout out to the blond resistance member who relays information to Leia and the other generals, she has the same hair as Leia in the Episode 4, is played by Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia's real life daughter!

Dyl

It is a movie so there can be valid reasons intended by the writers but intuitively that fight seems wrong, the believability is just not there. They did not do the work to make the audience believe this was the correct outcome of the fight and I don't know if they could. The lack of story supporting this outcome is what makes people think she couldn't win. Do the work before the fight to make me accept that she could win. As a result of not doing that, the audience correctly deduced that her power would just come to her and she was truly a great power but it felt unearned and less meaningful than past characters who worked for their power. This is not a discussion about logic, this is a fantasy world and what the writers say is true but it is discussion about salesmanship and story telling and that is the criticism. Maybe it was enough for you but it was not for me.

Practially Incarnate

I mean they show that Rey can fight, they establish throughout the movie that he is unstable, we saw him get shot and the turmoil around killing his dad, we know he isn't fully trained and we see he isn't actually trying his hardest because he wants to recruit her, I'm not sure what else you can actually do to establish she has a chance to win , she also doesn't really display any great feats of force power in that fight, just basic letting the force guide her in the last part. To me the fight works because the outcome isn't really because of her, it's because he is unraveling and she gets a surprise attack in and manages to wound him again, then they are separated by the planet falling apart. We are even told explicitly moments after that that he needs to complete his training. I think this scene gets a lot of flak because he is clearly meant to echo Vader and so people project some of the power and skill from Vader to Ben forgetting that he is still young, nowhere near a master in skill or power, wounded and mentally unwell.

Shawn Gordian

This movie is so bad. Mary Sue Rey aside, I love the part where Leia comforts and seeks comfort from this girl she barely knows and lets Chewbacca walk right by her LMAO.

Shawn Gordian

Yes Spartan, Mary Sue Rey should NOT be able to beat Kylo even if he wasnt 100%. Ill rewatch these 3 movies with my favorite reacters, but so far 1 for 1 still feeling the same about this movie.
