It’s also a rejection of the Targaryen to wider extent than that it’s just them not wanting a queen. Everything about the Targaryen’s screams rejection and opposition from the customary masses. From the establishment of the Iron Throne and the seven Kingdoms being united under them as foreign power alien to westeros, to their magical and superior nature in which they conduct themselves in manner that not only can been as the Targaryens as separating themselves from others including their subjects, but can be seen as a form of racial supremacy against all other people in conflict with both the popular will of the people but also in opposition to the teachings of the Seven and the gods they worship. Rhaeynra as queen flys in the face both the laws to gods and men as Otto stated in season 1 and the opportunity has arisen in this period in which at-least an option of either totally overthrowing and striking back at the Targaryens in this weaken state , or atleast produce a Targaryen monarch like Daeron who’s been raised closer to man than god aligned with immersing themselves closer to a representative of the people as the monarch than a overlord opposed and dominating others with fear and terror of mass extermination by the dragons.

To add something extra incest is a sin in the faith of the seven and rejected through out Westerosi culture , however the Targaryens found / created an agreed upon doctrine in the faith of exceptionalism because or their unique and magical auror that seperate’s them from the laws of others regarding the practice as they were created seperate from all others thus the rules and practices did not apply to them.

A couple of things about Cole. He viciously slams down the head of Lord Beesbury from behind at a council meeting killing him. Then he was supposed to be on the watch when Jaehaerys was murdered. Instead he was in bed with Alicent and then deflects the blame to other guards. One of which was Arryk Cargyll who he basically sends on a suicide mission. Both are little bitch moves and he deserved the death that he got. Not an honorable one.

They were too scared to fight cole 2 on 1 or even 3 on 1... killing him that way was a mirror of Jace but for completely different meanings as they were different ppl in their hearts... cole doesn't deserve to die with sword in hand. He has been walking to this tragic fate & going out with little honor like the countless he murdered is justice

Jaehaerys? Oh you mean when Rhaenyra had Daemon send two disgusting killers to go and murder that innocent child? Get off it, David. Criston Cole was based and his hate for Rhaenyra was justified. She forced herself upon him with him saying "no" multiple times. Then afterwards she wants him to be her side piece while she sits on the throne. All the people in this show minus a handful are bad people. SPACEZFAP is right on the money about the bitter ex thing though. Cole was a real one.

You just explained it yourself. Two killers sent to kill an innocent child and instead of protecting Jaehaerys, Cole was banging Alicent. And then tries to push the blame on someone else. Then stands behind Lord Beesbury and slams his head down during a meeting killing him. Both are little bitch moves so Cole absolutely deserved his death. No honor whatsoever.
