So Gendry ran all the way back to the Wall. Then they send a raven to Dragonstone, which is 1900 miles from The Wall. Which an average raven can fly up to 100 miles in a day. So they should have been there at least 19 days without food or water and frozen by this point. Then Daenerys flies her dragons all the way from Dragonstone to beyond The Wall all in what seemed to be about 1 day. The plot convenience is just too unbelievable to ignore

coop427

Spartan and pudgey closing in fast on the Burlington Bar as top GOT reactors!!

Abi

i like Spartan but darn man! it feels like you only support Dany when she does something that helps Jon in some way. Apart from that, this episode is full of inconsistencies and plot holes bigger than the size of craters on the moon.

Cameron Maddaloni

It's unfortunate that the reaction is a bit unquestioning but props to you guys for being able to enjoy something like this episode.

Abigail Buck

I enjoyed all the show. what they gave us was epic. We're there some issues with decisions made. Sure, but we don't always get what we want in this show.. people harp to much over the timing difference in scenes. Just let it be. Use the imagination of it being a couple days or so for the ice to freeze over .. I also understand that GRRM was supposed to have the book done by the time the show ended so they could have the books to go off of, but it got away from him by dealing with the show.... yes its unfortunate that they didn't have the books and yes you can tell. But they also dont have GRRM mind to write the same. But what they gave us is still epic. Just enjoy it for what it is. Hate the parts that hurt.. just like you hated when Ned died or the red wedding but don't let the last episode ruin your love of the show just because they don't give you what you want.

Damn I didn’t know about the distance between places. That just makes this episode worse then it already is hahaha

Sean Carroll
>>111030018

Damn you’re really offended by the overwhelming hate for the final two seasons aren’t you?

Sean Carroll

Genuinely one of the worst episodes of the show. The interactions at the start are nice but as soon as the main shit starts it devolves into an illogical mess. My biggest gripe comes from the fact that it would be absolutely impossible for these guys to survive the whites attacking them. There are thousands of whites and only like 10 guys. We also saw at hardhome that whites attack in a swarm but all of a sudden in this episode they attack one by one because the writers wanted each character to have a cool moment. I love all the characters beyond the wall but if this episode was at all realistic they would have died in a minute maximum. I hate this episode.

Learn to enjoy things for the spectacle every once in awhile. Yeah there were a lot of parts in this episode that were unrealistic and had plot holes, but you could point that out for any episode in any of the seasons here lol

Abigail Buck
>>111030018

Not offended.. everyone can feel how they feel... that was just my opinion. Just like you have yours. That's ok! It's just showing that not everyone hated the last season as shown in some of the other comments. And since the negative is more vocalized, I'm just giving another opinion and just don't want newcomers to the show to go in the last season with an already preconceived hatred. Just want people to enjoy it without all the negativity and make that decision for themselves when they are done.

I think the problem is this series was meant to be more than spectacle. at least that was the author's intent. so a lot of the fanbase came to expect more/different. Myself I don't mind the illogical time stuff as much as I mind having to believe that Tyrion would propose this plan to begin with.

Ebony

people complaining about this ep in the comments is insane to me - epic epic epic episode, logic can go out the window i don't care, it's a fantasy tv show after all.

sirboss__

I really wished that Arya and Johns relationship in the books would’ve made it to the show more.

Anonymous

OMG Spartan LOL "Is he still too small for you now? The ice was cracking because my man's mammoth balls were dropping on the ice" This has to be one of the greatest lines ever spoken in any commentary about anything ever

neutchain
>>111026976

they used specially bred wormhole ravens that can bend spacetime to travel faster. They are faster the longer the distance is.

neutchain
>>111037845

only my experience with them saved me to suffer some snacks going up my nostrils again. I refuse to drink or eat when I watch their stuff. It always comes out of nowhere and there is no resisting it. :)

neutchain

I would very much like to know how you guys feel about this season when you rewatch the show for a second time and none of this will be new. Its not as fun as it should be. I agree that there are some epic scenes in this season and some really touching moments. The dragon scenes especially, don't forget HotD was not a thing when this came out, Season 7 was the first time when we see what grown dragons can really do. I really enjoy your reactions and really happy to see how much you guys enjoy it. It's pretty much the only way I can watch this show past season 6 and have any sort of fun with it, for that I am grateful. :)

Ebony
>>111037392

if you are a very logic focused person when experiencing a tv show yes i can imagine in that ep particularly it’s all you could pay attention too - i’m just very emotional and focus on how i’m feeling and this ep was particularly good in that aspect so i personally loved it

Jayden Pouwhare

After reading the comments about deficiencies in logic and all that. My dumb ass wouldn’t even of thought about how long it would’ve taken for a raven to get too dragon stone from the wall 🤣🤣 and obviously there is other dumb things too, but the fighting scenes and the little interactions between characters at the start was enough to make up for it ig 🤷‍♂️

Storm

Spartan’s reaction to Dany and her dragons flying off was amazing, one of my favorite moments of your GoT reactions. So pure, like a little boy on Christmas 😂

Shannon Bey

Ugh. Dragon ex machina followed by Benjen ex machina.

Gummybear
>>111030752

I agree this episode is a mess but they start attacking one by one because of the ice not just “all of a sudden”

Gummybear
>>111037392

And not when the show has adhered consistently to logic throughout the series, just to throw it out the window now at the culmination of all this buildup. If the show would’ve always been like this people could’ve managed their expectation but the stark contrast is what’s insulting

Gummybear
>>111041866

Agreed! I’ve been too scarred to ever rewatch GOT since the show ended, especially the last two seasons but they have actually made it enjoyable for me again so I don’t have to swear off the show forever ☺️

Anthony Brown

Not the best writing, and the speed of gendry & that raven vs the day it seemed they spent on the ice.. also wouldn't the coldest part of the day be during the night and thats when the wights would cross the water? They wait until day and its frozen? Not to mention how many randoms they added in to kill them off... Anyways all that aside its a spectacle to watch for sure, the graphics, scenery, acting all great, just a shame about the rushed nature.

Sean Carroll

"Not one word is wasted on Jon" OOOOOOOOOOf

Anonymous

I may not have liked season 7 as much as Spartan and Pudgey but I'm glad they enjoyed it. Imo, it's never fun to watch reactors hating a movie or show unless it was extremely bad and never should have been made in the first place...like the ATLA movie. But we still haven't gone through season 8 yet so there's plenty space for disappointment despite there being so little episodes. Based on their reactions to season 7, they'll probably like most of it except maybe the last 1 or 2 episodes.

Valcor

The dragon dying and being revived was such a big moment and suprise for me. I remember when it's eyes turned blue I lost my shit.

Valcor
>>111113716

S7 and most of S8 is good just not all of it. S7 might have had time jumps but the story itself was good.

Valcor

People disliking S7 and S8 have nothing to do with disliking that it has less cruelty and more plot armour. Obviously can't say more but you are way off the mark.

Julien
>>111125870

I love reading stuff like this. I thought it was a painfully obvious development but I'm glad that people like you and our reactors genuinely got surprised by it.

Sasha
>>111125923

I mean Spartan even said himself "quickest raven ever" when he saw Daenerys show up. They're subconsciously realizing the flaws I think

Sean Carroll
>>111125923

for them yes, but not for the rest of us who see the obvious issues with this episode thhat make it one of the worst written in the show

sincethelasttime
>>111125923

You can tell how poor the writing has become that both of them are now accurately predicting virtually every plot point, right down to Benjen saving them, it's all very boilerplate storyteller - I mean putting a few 'randomers' into the group just to have some people die in the attack to make it plausible is so rudimentary and unlike Game of Thrones

DrückebergerTV
>>111125923

So, if predictible is bad, season 8 must be a masterpiece because majority of fantheories abd predictions leading up to it, were wrong. And i agree with that point.

Munir
>>111125923

Being predictable is usually bad. That doesn't mean being unpredictable is always good.

Ammaar Ahmed

your loving this season bcs its giving you everything you want but do you not stop think .. hang on whys that. Why are all these reunions happening so fast, how are characters travelling from one continent to another within an episode? there's so many dumb, predicatble and fan servicey writing St this point which is not ASOIAF

Ammaar Ahmed

"beautiful story-telling" well ... that's certainly one way to put it

Ammaar Ahmed

not to keep moaning in these comments but the whole Arya v Sansa plot line is definitely one if the most annoying plotpoints in a whole host if annoying plotpoints in these last seasons. It was just meant to be a quick and easy way for the writers to get rid of little finger, except its not compelling, really dumb and seems very forced

Ammaar Ahmed

I'm suprised how much Uncle Benjen impacted yall considering he's been in what 5 minutes of the dhow since s1 ep 2 (barely fleshed out) but glad even with that it was impactful for u

Demented Avenger

Even Spartan said " that must have been the fastest Raven in Westeros" or something to that effect. These are the little things we start catching onto. The more we think about them the more we realize how much the writing has gone down hill. It's just too rushed. This episode in season 3 would last for two episodes and two main characters would be frozen and the others on their deathbed. It's not so much about the cruelty, but the reality of the world they established. They keep breaking their own rules.

DrückebergerTV
>>111203404

There are not rules. Thoros froze to death, others were killed by wights, just like benjen. Dany lost her child, viserion, killed by night king. Its more than in any battle episode of this series before.

Demented Avenger
>>111203404

If you don't think there are rules in Martin's storytelling then you have a fundamental misunderstanding of storytelling. Thoros wasn't a main character. He was fodder. As were the randoms. There just to be killed like red shirts in a Star Trek episode. Thoros was purposely killed off so nobody else could be revived. If Thoros froze, so would have the others. It was weak writing.

Demented Avenger
>>111125870

So obvious. As was the last minute deus es machina. This season was great until you actually started thinking about it

Munir
>>111125923

Usually =/= always either. Stop putting words in other people's mouths.

Plinko Zoinks
>>111203404

I'm more confused about how Dany found them. The north is huge, and it's not like Gendry has ever been there before to give good directions.

Demented Avenger
>>111203404

Lmao that is completely untrue. Stop. You're confused and not understanding what I'm saying. That's fine.

Valcor
>>111125870

Yeah I didn't really consider they could bring back a dragon or have big ass chains that could drag it up haha. Also the dragon dying suprised me just didn't think that was going to happen. But hey would rather be suprised then know every single plot point.

Chris

“That’s rare for GOT, I thought he was gone” and “fastest raven ever”. 11 words that very concisely sum up what went wrong with the end of this show. A departure from the tone of the series that have made people love it, that it never lets you slip into a comfortable place where you know what’s going to happen, and a total departure from the general rules established by the world. Everything feels cheapened.

Ricky
>>111203404

At this point I made peace with the writing issues in these last few seasons. But seeing this reaction reminds me of the little things that bugged me of the series. I'm glad they're capable of enjoying it tho, and I hope they don't get discouraged with the comments.

Joana

I think it’s fair to point out📢 that Jon was the reason why the Night King killed Viserion‼️ if his stubborn ass would have gotten on Drogon instead of going back and killing what? Like 2 more f***** wights?🙄 They would’ve gotten out of there fast enough to avoid the ice spear!! I’m surprised y’all didn’t catch that🤔 (but also not, I know y’all can be a little biased towards Jon)🚨 ALSO wtf was Tyrion thinking ?!?!? Showing Cersie a fucking wight acting like she gives a damn about anyone but herself, he said “no one distrust’s Cersie more than me” yet he goes and trusts her!!! It was so stupid and unnecessary, Dany lost a dragon for NOTHING 🤬

Jamie Neill

I think people are angry that it becomes less about the brilliant dialogue, slow build etc and instead focuses on the scale, and action, often rushing ahead or making thinks less plausible. You’ll see how rushed it becomes. PS it’s a different actor playing the Night King - I think Richard Brake in the previous seasons looked far scarier, but Vladimir Furdik is a great stuntman and still looks cool.

Kimber Voss

This episode definitely had a few good moments, but over all I like to refer to it as "Game of Conveniences."

Incog Spectator

I genuinely hated Jon's character after this episode. Moron should've hopped on the damn dragon a few white walkers aren't going to stop the dragon.

J Osceola

Well she didn't listen to Tyrion and the result....She lost a dragon and the Night King gained a dragon. But it would've been worse if she did listen I suppose.

Natalija Fausta

I cried the most in the show (up till now, I cried more in the later ones) when Viserion died. Screaming, weeping, snot and all. I loved many characters, but dragon is so precious :(

Natalie-Anne
>>111571701

Yeah I remember sobbing over a cgi dragon very well. So sad to see him fall out of the sky bleeding to death. 😭

Chaz D

Lmao Spartan took Dani calling Jon little personally lol Kit Harington is 5”6 though so to be fair that’s not a fairy tall man what so ever
