Better Than Friday - 250 (Patreon)

Good late afternoon to ye - How goes?

Just dropped a Patron-Only Review of 'Ice' by Anna Kavan if you haven't had the chance.

Currently working on finishing up The Hive by Camilo José Cela (Paid Link)

Thank you so much for your continued support.

1. A book I've been meaning to get my hands on for years: The Baphomet by Pierre Klossowski (Paid Link)

Cheaper copies are available on Abebooks.

A strange tale about the Knights Templar by a friend of Georges Bataille and the brother of the painter Balthus.

2. Excellent Mingus Track.

Mingus will forever be my first Jazz love and favorite.

3. Rest in Peace James Chance

One of the most uncompromising visceral weirdos.

4. Chris Cunningham's music video for Bjork's 'All is Full of Love'

Man, that guy had something we've not seen since.

5. The Polish director Walerian Borowczyk

Patron Kendra posted a Nunsploitatin-style poster for a film of Borowcyzk's in the SP discord a while back.

I saw Immoral Tales ages ago. His style is extraordinary. Here's Mark Kermode discussing it.

I watched this doc on him featuring Neil Jordan, Terry Gilliam and Slavoj Zizek not long ago.

He was also a pioneering animator.
