Howdy ya'll -

I posted a review of Hemingway's 'A Farewell to Arms' yesterday if you haven't had the chance to check it out. It is one of the greatest books I have ever read. One of the most tragic as well.

Wishing you a great weekend, thank you so much for your continued support.

More good stuff soon.

1. Forthcoming book from Wakefield Press I plan to read: The Tower of Love by Rachilde

As the description informs us, Marguerite Vallette-Eymery, alias Rachilde, was the only woman writing in the French magazine Le Décadent.

The book is about a sailor put in charge of a lighthouse who begins "drifting into the realm of the unwell" as Marwood in Withnail and I put it.

According to this comment on Reddit, she took the name Rachilde from the ghost of a Swedish nobleman she met in a seance.

2. Idiocracy

A terrifying vision of an arriving future.

"Welcome to Costco. I love you."

3. Mark Renner - Saints and Sages

A great sad song easily stuck in my head by a previously obscure musician and artist Mark Renner. Apparently he composed a lot of his music in the 80's/early 90's.

4. Alain Delon on Dick Cavett

Both of these men are among the greats.

5. "Sigmund Freud: The Only Known Recording of His Voice, 1938"

Fascinating to hear him speak.

Cleaner version here too.

Good Delon interview! Watched Cavett and Sophia Loren + Marcello Mastroianni the other night. Very funny stuff.

Cool Freud recording. Kind of surreal to hear legends like him speak. There's this recording of Tolstoi speaking English that had a similar effect on me.
