Better Than Friday - 261 (Patreon)

Good evening ya'll - How goes?

Posted a review for E.T.A. Hoffmann's The Sandman if you haven't had the pleasure.

Next week I'll post the review for Chapters 8 & 9 of Paglia's Sexual Personae.

Tonight is date night so my wife and I are going to see FRONT 242 on their last tour.

It'll be a good time.

Thanks so much for your continued support.

Have a great weekend! 🫡

1. Book recently sent to me by Wakefield Press - Vacated Landscape by Jean Lahougue (Paid Link)

Beautiful cover on this unusual detective novel. I highly recommend reading the synopsis.

This is the first English translation of Lahogue, an interesting French author who won and declined the Prix Médicis in 1980.

Will try to review this Fall.

2. Burroughs and Warhol having dinner.

Awkwardly discussing hare and chicken fried steak.

Nice performance of Chelsea Girls by Nico too.

3. Mario Vargas Llosa on the forged talent and work ethic of Flaubert

A good reminder.

4. Jorge Luis Borges: This Craft of Verse Lectures

Over 4 Hours of lectures Borges gave at Harvard.

Admittedly I’ve not listened to all of this, but I certainly will.

5. The Ruts - In a Rut

Only heard these guys for the first time recently.

Great energy. Love when the singer steals the guitarist's guitar and he could care less hahaha
