* I'm Now Making Better Than Friday Available to $1+ Patrons*

Good morning everyone, hope you're well. Here's another list of things I'm currently reading/interested in.

I've decided to include photos of my bookshelf from time to time so you can see what may be coming.

1. Book in the Pipeline: Outline by Rachel Cusk

The first in a trilogy.

A writer travels to Greece for work, and the book is composed of her conversations with various men and women about life.

I'm fascinated by the perspectives, and there are some lines in here that are mildly devastating.

2. A Disturbing Video I Believe Is Accurate

There is a strange trend in the workforce where your job is expected to be not only the way you support yourself, but also your Meaning, Passion, Raison d'etre, Life's Purpose, Calling, whatever.I find that kind of expectation to be absolutely ludicrous. It appears that doing something just to make money (to support the thing you love to do that may not make money, heaven forbid) is heresy.

Where is this going to lead, I wonder, other than enormous depression, anxiety, and cynicism?

3. A Book I'm Planning on Reading Soon

The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking

I wonder if there's something to this.

4. A Sad Song I Like Playing on Guitar

Sad music is a vice of mine.

The Replacements were an American band from Minneapolis Minnesota.

This outtake has a beautiful, intimate, desperate quality that I love.

Some other tracks I enjoy by them are 'Swingin Party', 'Bastards of Young', and 'Alex Chilton'.

5. Strangest Thing I Learned About Recently

The Norwegian Butter Crisis of 2011

It was reported that this led to Smør-panikk (Butter Panic).

Bonus: The Best Leather Jacket I've Ever Owned

Not cheap, but for me, totally worth the investment.

This is my second Belstaff jacket (and probably not the last).

If you're in the market for a new jacket (or anything else), the channel gets a kickback and it's greatly appreciated.

I can confirm and add to the absurdity of the 2011 butter crisis! I remember it like it was yesterday: the empty shelves, the panicked grand-mothers, the stale pieces of bread. I still remember people peddling packs of butter in the streets for double the price, like some sort of illegal culinary delicacy imported from a foreign nation. You start to appreciate butter in a whole different way when you know it might disappear at any moment. It can happen anywhere !

When your employer or the business community in general starts using hierarchy of human needs language, that should be an immediate red flag, especially when they're empowered to take away levels 1 and 2 on a whim.
