Good morning everyone, Happy Fall - Hope you're all well.

Lots of good stuff coming, trying to get some compelling dark literature out this season, The Tenant, maybe some Ligotti or H.P. Lovecraft, possibly Sacher-Masoch, we'll see...

Beautiful here in Portland Oregon.

There's already a carpet of leaves on the ground and the trees are all kinds of colors on the spectrum from green to brown.

Have a great weekend and thanks for the support.

1. The Obscene Bird of Night by Jose Doñoso

This was a gift from a kind patron of the show, thanks Shauna!

I've been wanting to read it for years.

Hope I can get to it soon.

This haunting jungle of a novel has been hailed as “a masterpiece” by Luis Buñuel and “one of the great novels not only of Spanish America, but of our time” by Carlos Fuentes. The story of the last member of the aristocratic Azcoitia family, a monstrous mutation protected from the knowledge of his deformity by being surrounded with other freaks as companions, The Obscene Bird of Night is a triumph of imaginative, visionary writing. Its luxuriance, fecundity, horror, and energy will not soon fade from the reader’s mind.

2. Solo Piano Totentantz by Liszt

Goosebumps.

3. What Conductors are Really Doing

I just think this is insanely impressive.

I never knew what they were doing but this gives a simple breakdown.

4. The Ghost of Stephen Foster

The photo below made me think of the Squirrel Nut Zippers.

My mom used to take us to Cinema 21 and I think I saw this music video on the big screen.

My music taste probably hasn't been the same since.

5. A Rare Blue Moon will light up the sky on Halloween

When the phrase “once in a blue moon” was coined, it meant something so rare you’d be lucky (or unlucky) to see in your lifetime, according to NASA.

Given the events of 2020, I can't tell if I should be happy or terrified.

Look at that tail. He's pissed.
