Good evening everyone, finished Stella Maris - Phenomenal.

Depressing, but exceptionally good.

Hope you all have a great weekend, thanks for your support!

1. Book to read - Zone by Mathias Énard

I've never heard of Enard until today. This is the story of a Croatian soldier reflecting on his life and actions during the Balkan Wars. The book is a single sentence 517 pages long.

2. Ace Ventura goes to see Cannibal Corpse

The guy who puts on local Death Metal shows here in Tampa Bay got in touch to see if I had any ideas for live events.

So this weekend my wife and I are going to see Cannibal Corpse.

For those who aren't aware, the early 90's in Florida was considered the birthplace of Death Metal, specifically Tampa Bay.

All I can think of is this scene from my childhood.

Briefly considered ordering Ventura's Hawaiian shirt solely for the event.

3. Pa always said: "Never trust a Hogwallop."

A masterful achievement from the Coens and George Clooney's greatest performance. One of my favorites.

4. I put my good old fashioned car radio on...

and on the local Merengue station up popped this beauty from Eddy Herrera.

1 week later - Probably on my 150th listening.

Try starting the day with it. It helps.

5. Yet another brand new Cormac McCarthy Interview

Cool to see but just breaks my heart to see how frail he is these days.

Somewhere in the YouTube universe there's a video of some kid doing a cover of a Cannibal Corpse song on a ukulele. He shreds it. The finale is first class. Look for it!

Ha, this Cannibal Corpse-related short recently popped up on my YouTube. Pretty funny: https://youtube.com/shorts/U3NfQ3TQYZ8?feature=share Living in the Tampa Bay area, it is cool that we are pretty much the home of death metal. I was always more of a black metal guy, but I still have to support the DM genre. Death is one of my favorite bands of all time and I believe they recorded all their albums here in Tampa. I tried tracking down their old studio but apparently it's moved.
