And Yes! Jordan Peterson is just staggering, a vital voice. Came across his identity politics commentary in November, searched for more, heard his interview on Joe Rohan's podcast. That's where I discovered the scope of his thinking and - frankly - the individual genius he possesses. Glad to see his work has grabbed at you also. Happy New Year, stay healthy and happy.

Are you interested in reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara released this year? It's got quite some acclaim and sounds pretty interesting to me

Marshall L'Amour

Hey, happy New Year, Mr. Sargent. Jordan B. Peterson... stumbled upon a talk he did on BGE a couple months back. Been meaning to give that a good listen.

Hey man, great video! What did you think of The Marbled Swarm? I still can't decide whether it was complete shit or a work of absolute genius.

FUCK YEAHHHHHHH Pynchon. Jordan Peterson is fascinating, and I am very eagerly anticipating his appearance on Sam Harris' podcast, but Pynchon, for me, may have been the discovery of my life. This year I read V, The Crying of Lot 49, and Gravity's Rainbow in one fell swoop, and I'm going to start Mason & Dixon as soon as I finish Blood Meridian which I've just got my hands on. I promise that his writing is not comparable to anything you have reviewed; his work is just like bathing in a communal bath of American cultural excretions and emotions; funny, fascinating, mind-blowing, hypnotic, and, if you read hard enough, poignant and heart-breaking. To me, he has become the epitome of American writing, the culmination of American artistic conventions and the synthesis of their inspiration by classical literature and their diversion from those standards of romantic-period European literature; just free, unchained writing that takes your brain and utterly reconfigures it. I swear, you could spend an entire year reading and analyzing Gravity's Rainbow and not uncover all of the contours of it's labyrinthine narrative machinations. I've gone on a bit long, but I am so excited to hear your thoughts; hope you like it! Good end to a great year of content. I can't wait to see how you develop, and I'll support you as much as I can every step of the way.

Very cool lists, both the top 5 for 2016 and your planned reading for this year. Also looking soooo much forward to your Pynchon review (as everybody) :) Just started reading "In Youth is Pleasure" by Denton Welch, who was William S Burroughs' favorite writer, and it's awesome!! but I guess, you already have more than enough books on your shelf write now. Btw do you know the film of "The Woman in the Dunes" by Hiroshi Teshigahara? It's great and it was one of Tarkovsky's favorite films.
