Good afternoon ya'll, thank you so much for your continued support and hope you're reading something exceptional.

1. Currently Reading (and shocked that I'm enjoying): Dune by Frank Herbert

The story of a royal family taking on the herculean task of politically restructuring part of an outrageously uninhabitable desert planet wherein water is so scarce it is treasured above all - Next to the reason for the planet's importance, the crop of 'Spice', mined from the sands, which has life-extending properties, guarded by enormous sand worms.

I'm not a sci-fi fan, but then as Frank Herbert put it, this is science fiction written for those who don't like science fiction.

It's great so far. Have not yet seen any of the film adaptations.

2. Nick Cave responding to a fan's ChatGPT result for "Song written in the style of Nick Cave"

"Judging by this song ‘in the style of Nick Cave’ though, it doesn’t look good, Mark. The apocalypse is well on its way. This song sucks."

It's true. Those lyrics blow.

3. Holy Shit There Are Monkeys Here?!

I really do live in a jungle. Must go visit Silver Springs.

Yesterday morning we saw some tropical green parakeets on a nearby telephone line and then we took a walk by the bay and spotted a manatee chillin. Frequently see dolphins as well. Love this place.

4. Norwegian Folk Music

Came across this viola musician recently, love this track.

5. Dexter Gordon Live 63 and 64

Love Dexter Gordon. Cool performance.

Great track here as well. Nice performance of the same track from Chet Baker here too.

I just started reading Dune 3 this week! Funny timing. I’m a big fan of scifi, so I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying Dune. It’s a special book. Are you enjoying the glossary?!

Any plans to do a video on top books you read for pleasure/entertainment/enjoyment? Patreon exclusive of course because YouTube is full of that content already

I haven’t read much sci, but I felt similarly about DUNE. It really is the exception from what I gather, and avoids the problems much classic sci-fi (Asimov, Ursula K Leguin) ran into, namely putting concept before characters; still great. DUNE is able to be chock full of both, a terrific read to makeup for yourself what each character looks and sounds like too!
