Good afternoon everyone! Want to go on a trip with me to Italy?

If so, please fill out this survey from Trovatrip (though please choose your preferred destination, doesn't necessarily have to be Italy).

I've already posted that survey last year and the top results were Italy and France.

Posting once more for patrons before I mention it publicly.

Aiming to take the trip sometime in Fall 2023.

I need 50-100 qualified responses (18+ with a $2000+ budget) to get the green light.

Thanks for checking it out - Hope to meet you in person!

Meanwhile...

1. A book by a Cuban musicologist/author who collaborated with Bataille and Artaud: Alejo Carpentier

I've not heard of Carpentier until this afternoon, and I can't wait to read this one.

It's about a composer who, sick of the 1950s NYC lifestyle, takes his mistress to the jungles of South America.

The premise reminds me a bit of 'His Name Was Death'.

2. The Art of Not Reading

The videos on Weltgeist are fantastic.

Love Schopenhauer. Currently editing a review of 'The Wisdom of Life'.

3. Mr. Oizo - Flat Beat

Just saw this for the first time today.

4. great Great GREAT song.

A postpunk masterpiece.

I'd come across 'Red Lorry Yellow Lorry' several times but could never get into them.

But this was an immediate love.

5. 'The Sci-fi Masterpiece that killed its director'

Hell of a sacrifice for a beautiful film.

In addition to the deaths, it was hard to hear about the fire that destroyed the original in 1988...

The Great Blue Heron is one of my favorite birds.
