Good morning ya'll, hope you're drinking a nice cup of coffee and looking forward to the weekend.

Presently, I've got a cup of this strange coconut/hazlenut good-bad coffee from Manatee Coffee out of Sanibel, FL.

Happy to support the Manatees. We see them here frequently. Apparently, as the Manatee Coffee bag taught me, they're related to elephants.

Myth of Sisyphus review coming shortly.

1. Supplementary reading for 'The Sun Also Rises': Everyone Behaves Badly by Lesley Blume

Apparently Hemingway's 'The Sun Also Rises' was lifted straight out of real life, and this book explores what actually happened.

2. Mambo Sun

Recently came across this for the first time, what a beauty.

3. Where to Start with Nietzsche

I haven't yet taken the deep-dive into Nietzsche.

This reddit thread provides many opinions on where to start.

4. Tarpon - A strange wandering 70's film about fishing in the Keys featuring Richard Brautigan and Jim Harrison

Interesting clip here of him talking about Hemingway and owning a fish, not by killing him, but instead by letting him go.

Contains some graphic footage of fish-killing, just a heads up.

5. Cypher's Juicy Steak

This scene will be with me until my dying day.

This is a Great Egret

Always yes to Camus! Have you tried the New Mexico Pinon coffee? It's good. Now reading Hemingway's A Moveable Feast. An easy but nourishing read.

Where to start with Nietzsche? 1. Zarathustra 2. Genealogy 3. Birth of Tragedy 4. Beyond Good & Evil 5. For a proper understanding of the crux of Nietzsche’s philosophy I recommend Bernard Reginster’s ‘The Affirmation of Life: Nietzsche on Overcoming Nihilism’ (2006)

That coffee sounds an interesting choice. I'm currently trying out this one, 'Japan's No.1 coffee'. Apparently: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/ueshima-house-blend-ground-coffee/645579-759690-759691 Reading-wise recently finished Oliver Stone's autobiography Chasing the Light. Not bad. Can't complain when I bought it in secondhand store for £1.50. Otherwise just getting into Threshold after your stellar review (thanks for that) and then a little bit out there, perhaps, historian Ian Kershaw's Hitler 1889-1936 Hubris (vol.1). Exhaustingly researched but very readable. Mentioning history books, I highly recommend Empire of the Summer Moon by S C Gwyne. I recall it being referenced in the Reading McCarthy podcast series.

If you want to get into Nietzsche, I highly recommend Rüdiger Safranski's "Nietzsche: A Philosophical Biography". It is less a biography than a biographically structured overview of Nietzsche's thinking and the evolution of his ideas. For me, it was the perfect introduction to Nietzsche. It's a good starting point because it explains core concepts and prepares you to choose which of Nietzsche's works you want to dive into for a closer read. Yet Safranski's book isn't shallow at all – it's exactly the right amount of challenging for an introduction. Plus Safranski writes beautifully himself. I'm a big fan of your reviews. Cheers!
