Good afternoon everyone, hope all is well.

All is fine here after Hurricane Idalia, thanks very much to those of you who checked in, it was a thankfully uneventful experience.

Posted a patron-only review of Thomas Mann's 'Death in Venice' yesterday.

Have a great weekend!

1. Currently Reading: The Moviegoer by Walker Percy

An existential novel that takes place in New Orleans

Comes highly recommended by my friend and patron Josh, thanks man.

So far it's beautifully written.

2. The Life of Translator Joachim Neugroschel

The life of one of my favorite translators, who did 'Death in Venice'.

From his memorial when he passed in 2011.

3. Rosita

Beautiful track I've been listening to this week.

4. Harold Bloom on the poet Wallace Stevens

A great reminder from Bloom on why I should return to Stevens.

5. Leonard Bernstein is so rad. Look at that guy conducting... - Mahler's 5th - Adagietto

Magnificent.

Thomas Mann modeled Gustav Aschenbach visually after Gustav Mahler.

Also, I have to post another Aphex Twin Xtal cover, now with Neil Young. Fits perfectly.

The Beach after Idalia

Not too bad but wow that's a lot of sand.

I’ve had The Moviegoer on my shelf for quite a while and this has inspired me to pick it up this weekend!

The Moviegoer is one of a kind, in the best way.
