Evening!Wishing you well friend. Thanks for all your support.

Here's some stuff to enjoy over the weekend.

1. Recent kind gift from Patron Evan - Negative Space - B.R. Yeager

Thank you so much for the gift Evan! Looks deeply strange.

Experimental horror (?). Trying to figure out the plot, not easy - Seems to revolve around teenagers taking too much of a new hallucinogen during an epidemic of suicide.

2. Nine Inch Nails Woodstock '94

Legendary. What a moment...

3. Vanitas Paintings

A kind of memento-mori-esque motif in painting. Beautiful stuff.

Mentioned by Kit in his afterword of the book below.

4. An interview with Michel Surya, author of the exceptionally good biography of Georges Bataille,  looking like an absolutely based French chad.

Reviewing his forthcoming English translation of "Dead End" (L'impasse in French) translated by brilliant translator and friend Kit Schluter.

It's a beautiful book. Very "pornographic" (kinda not really), yet very sad in a way. The existential fears of a man "in the act" so to speak related to us in a 51-page single sentence.

Definitely for fans of Samuel Beckett, Bataille of course, and Clarice Lispector.

5. Go Tell the Mountain

Took me like 10 years to figure out what this song was after seeing the clip of JLP playing it in the interview clip below.

One of my great regrets in life is that I’ve never been to see Nine Inch Nails.

Another author that dabbles in experimental horror is Gary J. Shipley. Well worth checking out.

Man . . . that Woodstock performance. I've been a NIN fan since I was fourteen. Always my favourite "band." I think that the Lights in the Sky tour (promoting Year Zero, Ghosts, and the Slip) was a career capstone (32 songs on the setlist, and an almost theatrical or cinematic structure). Woodstock, however, is where Reznor really came out swinging (like mad). The energy of that performance is unmatched. I still watch recordings of both those shows regularly.
