Better Than Friday - 229 (Patreon)

Good afternoon everyone, nice day here in St. Pete, clear skies, a little chilly, and lots of sun.

Wishing you a nice weekend, thanks so much for your continued support.

1. Book of Essays to read: "The Ghosts of Birds" by Eliot Weinberger

As the description states, Javier Marias called him "one of the bravest and sharpest minds in the United States".

Sold.

2. Bo Jo Cie Kochom!

How did I miss this growing up?

Incredible track by the Norwegian-Polish Punk band De Press.

Stuck in my head all week.

3. CHOPPER

Bana kills it in this performance as the famous Aussie outlaw Mark Chopper Read

It'd be hard to believe Refn wasn't taking notes for 'Bronson'.

Scored by Australian musician Mick Harvey, a compatriot of Nick Cave in all his bands.

Funny clip of him researching Mark Chopper Read.

4. Raymond Chandler's Los Angeles Documentary

"For inspiration, he only needed to walk out the door."

Man, I believe it.

Great little doc on LA noir author Raymond Chandler.

5. Verklarte Nacht by Schoenberg performed by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra

Fabulous performance of one of my favorites.

No conductor. They're playing it from memory. Incredible.

15:43 is unreal.
