I had to deal with it myself in the pauses between work. It’s good that neural networks have greatly simplified a lot of things.

I apologize for the long silence again — my move was completed at the end of August, but the consequences of that move followed me throughout September. I was extremely tired, I lost access to medications that are important to me (in a new country, it’s not so easy or quick to get the necessary prescriptions from doctors), I had to set up my workspace, and all that. Due to the stress and the hustle and bustle of everyday life, all the illnesses that had been building up in me flared up. The processor died once again, but this time I had a backup. Intel is changing it for the 4th time. I think it would be easier for them to buy me a completely new computer, because the 13th-14th generation processors will die in an average of 8-14 months, and this is the 4th. Seriously, they’re great at changing that. They probably hope that I can’t stand the fuss myself and buy a new computer. And I’ll relieve them of their Byzantine obligations. But now I don’t have the money for a completely new computer and I continue to use their 3-year warranty further ;))
As for the illnesses — nothing critical, just accumulated and long‑deferred problems. And also a disruption of access to the necessary medications for quite a long period. All of this is now behind me.
I won’t bore you with the biological issues; I’ll just say that it seriously hindered my work for most of the month, and it was only at the end of September that I was able to sit upright for more than an hour a day. And I’m back to full‑time work. All the time I was able to work productively, I naturally devoted to urgent work on the update. Which I sent for publication this morning (it takes a few hours for everyone who sees the latest pages to see the generation).
This update included a huge amount of water and rain, which I simply hate to draw — it requires a lot more hassle and effort than weather without moisture and rain. Given that we’ll have rain and bad weather more than once, I tried to optimize this in various ways, including 3D and so on, but it all didn’t take shape as quickly as I would have liked. I tried 6 plugins, and either they don’t work or they look like crap. In the end, I had to adjust the most sensible addon using a neural network. I did the work that the author of that addon should have done before selling it… Well, anyway, that’s the whole mess. I went through all the stages of burnout, even the ones I didn’t realize I had. And I discovered and invented a couple of new stages, haha.
But I hope it was worth it and you’ll like it. If I could have spent another week on this, it could have been several times better, but I decided not to make everyone wait another long period.

In addition to the main work, we finally completed the character model, which is suitable for animation, working with what I called “neuroskin,” and much more. I worked on this for a significant part of September, as it was one of the few activities that could be done without sitting. And it’s practically ready. As soon as I finish dealing with the accounting, I’ll publish a couple of interesting demos for you. Animation in several versions. This is an impressive achievement for me. Actually, I’ve been working on this for much longer than most of the month — in total, it was much more time, spread out over several months in small parts. This summer, many impressive technologies came out that we studied and are getting ready to use. And I hope to show you what we’ve come up with in the coming days. We just need to polish it a bit more to make it completely perfect.

Now my schedule will definitely be more stable; I’ve sorted out all the everyday issues, and unless a meteorite falls on me or Putin sends assassins after me, I’m fully functional and in perfect shape. Previously, a team of four people could work on all of this, but now there are only two of us. And switching from one type of workflow to another several times a day is extremely difficult, tiring, and causes much more fatigue than a couple of days working on one stage and a couple of days on another. Guys, it seems we have a new bug on our website. Some of the images didn’t load in the feed; I only noticed it now. I’ll try to fix it tomorrow and restart the generation. In a hurry, we didn’t test the latest update thoroughly enough. We tried to integrate a neural network for translations into many languages at once, but it seems this will be more difficult than we thought. I’ll stick to the manual version for now.
