I actually went to high school with Suchir and it was really sad and shocking when we learned about his death. We weren't particularly close (we shared some classes and we're Facebook friends) but it was incredibly surreal to see someone I knew in national news like that, especially with the situation around his death being so contentious. As for this nightz, I'm not really sure how to feel about the interview, it's nice to see Sam Altman grilled (he's definitely a snake but as y'all said, he isn't the only person/could not be involved with Suchir's death) but I don't really like that it's Tucker using this as some kind of viral gotcha moment. That being said, I don't know who else could get Sam Altman to do an interview like this so maybe it's overall a good thing. Appreciate you both (and the team), keep making good stuff!

I appreciate the conversation about this as someone who is keenly interested in the threat gen AI poses. The context in which this technology is being developed matters.

Fuck Tucker Carlson, but I have to say I appreciate him throwing tough questions at Sam Altman, pushing back, and actually investigating the thing he claims to be investigating. Mainstream journalism in the US is so sanitized, interviewers seldom push back or openly disagree with the person they're interviewing. It's refreshing to see someone actually ask the hard questions and say, "No, I don't agree with you because of x, y, and z evidence." Too bad Tucker Carlson is a huge piece of shit.

Is Sam Altman's persistent vocal fry a) an attempt to sound like a kid so people don't be mean to him, or b) actually a vocal defect that he can't help?

maybe this is a silly request, but any way you guys could also post the sad boyz dayz episodes to this feed? i’m trying to cut avenues for impulsive doom scrolling and youtube is a hard app to quit.

Idk if ya'll end up reading these but regardless want to say thank you for providing the extra content for your members. I want to help w at least a little $ to the creators I support(even though it's only what, 15?l for this one? Most the time only a few bucks :( cuz we/I be bein broke as fuck out here lotta the time ya'll)and this isn't a dig on other creators at ALL- I can't help feeling a little bummer-y when $'ing a membership and there's no exclusive content at all whatsoever. Content creators don't deserve to be stressed jumping through hoops or anything like that- if I join a paid subscription to a creator though and NONE of the content is members only- good for them&good for all the viewers in general, because it's good content that people have brighten their lives without havin to pay for a sub... But. I think sometimes with some creators there's a point where it's more sensible to just ask for support/contributions, or outright say 'there's no extra content if you join, the point is to support us.' - It's kind that you guys work so hard and consistently put out fun content thats a little spicy or exclusive to a membership. I can only afford a couple subs 😬 and donate sometimes- to the exact type of creators I described- who ask for a paid subscription but there's no extra content-so instead of subscribing I just donate a little when I can. I know content creators deserve money, as they help a lot of us. I guess I typed way too much just to say- it's nice that you guys make this extra content for us. Not because I relish the existence of a paywall for anyone- but moreso that seeing the extras feels like a present.:) --------Totally unrelated- Please bring back the mst3k shit you used to do🙏🏼🕷❤️ that shit was BOMB I throttled two other people into watching with me. IDK why it ended maybe it was not fun or didnt make money? But from this fan, that was some funny shit, imagine how damn cool it would be to have Jordan Adika on it too, together!!! ...Why'd it end? Were people too mean/poopy&no traction? What's a hoe gotta do to see that come back? Do we need a petition?!... Thats all.:))) Thank you.

I hear you on the doom:( scrolling&I realize we aren't all the same- idk what OS or UI - if you're subscribed to them on youtube then even clicking the search bar will show a blue dot if there's been an update(usually). You don't need to scroll to find them.(Sometimes easier said than done, I know- but maybe the patreon should be the patreon.) IMHO the easier way to do this- instead of them uploading all of their non-paid episodes to patreon- making a membership for youtube. Instead of 'free access' eps on youtube and a separate mix on patreon- having paid access be on youtube, too, so both standard+member-only show up on it. Not all content creators do this, so maybe it's difficult to do it, or there might be stipulations behind the scenes that we don't know about. - tl;dr: subscribe to their (free!) youtube to check for sadboyz on their typical drop dates...And then turn it off(the youtube app itself) If you're finding them via scrolling... Type em in, instead. If you're subbed(free!) on there, that'll make it easier. EDITED TO ADD: there's nothing wrong at all with asking about Dayz being on here, &also I get wishing doomscrolling didn't have to be a risk of checking(any content creators) youtube.:( - But admittedly(which is part of another comment I just made:/) When paying for a patreon, if I have to dig around for the patreon for pay specific content - that sucks.

I’m in the habit of watching their day episodes on spotify, they post the videos there! but that might be a premium-only feature

I think this was an enjoyable topic for you guys to react to - I'd also love to hear your thoughts on Balaji's essay. Even if it's like a surface level break down

This was extremely interesting; what a tragic and chilling situation. Thank you for walking us through that interview—Sadboyz commentary is indispensable. Love this podcast for never being predictable in subject matter, but always in quality.

check out wherever you get podcasts! i’m also trying to get away from the companies that aren’t super great and going back to podcasts in the first place has helped a lot!

Definitely interesting. One of my childhood friends works for a massively powerful tech company. He started in PR while he was in school and was promoted to what he calls "damage control" after earning his law degree... His input on this case is pretty astounding. Corporate damage control and espionage are real things; there are those who have more scruples and those who are just modern day mafia with enough money, power, lobbies, and scapegoats/patsies to get away with damn near anything. And like you said, it may not have been OpenAI who "pulled the trigger," but there are other parties with an interest in keeping his mouth shut, including our wonderful, dear leader, DJT and Project Goreallyfast. Either way, dark world we live in, eh? Edit: Hit enter to go to a new line and it submitted. Had to add the rest. Also, wanted to add, I don't really know my friend too well anymore; we have very different lives now, but see each other once or twice a year. So, I take what he says with a grain of salt. I do know he is very wealthy though lol.

26:50 in right now, have ducked out of anything but minor news consumption for a year now, but I my immediate vibe is this guy had him killed from every word and action I've seen lol

GHB is a legal prescription medication to treat narcolepsy...
