I’ve been trying to make this argument on Mastodon for a while. People say “LLMs are totally useless” and I’m like “no, they’re not, and _you need to understand that_ if you are going to argue against them.” For the vast majority of people, “good enough” is the goalpost for LLMs, so you need to find better arguments against them than “they suck at everything”.

as a game dev the ppl talking abt ai and having the cognitive dissonance is a real thing, esp at networking events you will have ppl say theyre ai engineers and it takes a moment to tell which kind, esp bc game dev attracts tech bro types which is always weird to me as someone who got into games to make weird queer art games

Hill people (respectfully) may vote solely based on whether a president supports coal power, as it may be that town’s SOLE source of income and jobs. We need clean energy, but in a way that empowers rural low-income communities with jobs and a future. I’m a leftist, but never want to abandon forgotten, rural working class ppl as the left often does.

Around 5.5 minutes in, the whole squinting and creating a small hole to look through to try and see the other version of the dress is pretty common practice in painting! It's used precisely because our brains are so good at assuming the color of something based on context. The method allows you to see a specific color more accurately (for example, a white dress out in the sunlight will look blue in the shadows, because white tends to reflect a lot of colors from the surrounding environment (the sky). But our brains think that it's white.) The pinhole helps remove context.
