Dr. Nystrom's Journal #1 – So… this is happening! (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

I’m Dr. Nystrom, AfterDark’s writer. I’m a wandering healthcare worker with a lifelong love for creating—whether it’s drawing, storytelling, or building strange little worlds for people to get lost in. I’ve been crafting fantastical narratives for over 12 years now, always saying “one day I’ll make a game.” And well… here we are.

Originally, I joined the project as a freelancer to help flesh out a few interactions that were already roughly sketched out. But one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I’d written an entire outline for the story—chapters, character arcs, emotional beats and all. Yeah… I might’ve gotten a little carried away.

Luckily, the team didn’t mind and offered me a more permanent role. I may or may not have celebrated by pulling an all-nighter brainstorming new dialogue ideas (don’t do this, it’s bad for your health).

Since then, I’ve been adding a few extra touches—more skits, deeper character interactions, and some extra flavor to spice up the scenes. No one’s complained about the writing (yet), so I’ll take that as a win. Honestly, seeing people liking the characters and enjoying the game. That’s the good stuff.

And with the update we’re currently working on, I’ve definitely gotten a little more ambitious. The story is ramping up, the lewd is stronger, and the scenes... well, let’s just say I’m pushing myself. Whether you end up loving it or just tolerating it politely, I hope the care I’ve put into it shines through.
