WELCOME to another Monday Blog Post! The year 2026 is about to start — are you guys ready? I’m not, to be honest. XD Well, in any case, today is Monday, and you know what that means. Let’s do this thing!

THE SHOP. I added a new item to the shop. The decision to add this particular item was inspired by an AI pic based on a drawing that bro rfm914 shared on my Discord server (the one I used as the cover for this post). I thought it was cute, and it made me want to do more stories with Ginny Weasley in future episodes of SC34. For now, though, I’m just sharing the PSD files of that CG from the game, with all the layers intact. Go check it out. :)

THE PIN. I’ve been staying in touch with MrLazare over the past week. He’s mailed out around 20 pins so far, and there are still some pins left. If you want one, you need to be on a $5 (or higher) tier and contact MrLazare on Discord.

SUMMON NIGHT 3. I decided to give Summon Night 3 a try. It had been sitting on my backlog for a long time, and a few days ago the mood finally struck me. The game has an EASY and a NORMAL mode, but there’s no explanation of whether EASY just makes enemies weaker or if it locks you out of a good ending or something (which is a thing in some JRPGs). So I went to GameFAQs, and most of the posts there were made about 13 years ago… Whenever I see stuff like that, it always makes me feel things. Like I’m reading messages left behind by my predecessors or something. I start to wonder what became of all these guys. Did they start families and live happy lives? Are they still gaming? Are they still fucking alive?

OmegaVideoGameG. One of those threads stood out in particular. It was by a guy who was supposedly working on a translation patch for the game. He had been posting small updates for about four years. Then he made a post saying he’d gotten married, things were going well, and he was close to completing the patch. And that’s it. Two years of silence since then. Did his wife kill him and bury his remains in the backyard? No, seriously — did he actually die? What could have happened? I suppose we’ll never know. Uff… for some reason, when people online just go offline for good like that, it always makes me a bit depressed. It’s like that meme…

THE MEME. This is the one I meant. Memes are supposed to be funny, but every time I see this one (or its variations), it hits me over the head with a metaphorical bag full of existential thoughts…

MOVING ON. I finally took my laptop apart. Properly this time. I don’t remember if I mentioned this before, but quite some time ago one of the cooling fans on my laptop began making noises it was never supposed to make. I opened the laptop up, but soon realized that getting access to the fans wouldn’t be easy, so I closed it again and started wondering if I should maybe get a new laptop — which I really didn’t want to do for a whole bunch of reasons. Well, last week I decided to give it another try, and after watching a couple of teardown videos on YouTube, I was able to do what needed to be done.

MSI GP63 Leopard / GE63 Raider. My laptop is quite old (in laptop years), but it was a beast back in the day and still performs admirably, so I’m glad I’ll be able to extend its lifespan now. I’ve already ordered a replacement, which was surprisingly cheap, by the way ($30). All I need to do now is wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive.

FOR THE TIME BEING, I put it back together — including the faulty fan, which I cleaned thoroughly (though it didn’t reduce the noise in the slightest). I left the back cover unscrewed because it’s a bit of a pain to take off. The screws are easy enough to remove, but it also uses those little plastic clasps that I hate dealing with unless absolutely necessary. Plus, leaving the shell half open like that provides additional ventilation, and half the time the fan doesn’t even turn on unless I do something that demands a lot of resources. ^^

THERMAL PASTE REPLACEMENT. That phrase always sounded so scary to me whenever I heard it. But after doing some research, I realized it’s actually a pretty straightforward process, so I decided to take care of that as well. Since my knowledge on the subject is limited, I decided to play it safe and bought a paste that was on the pricier side. For now, though, I’ve just put it aside. I need to wait for the fans to get here first.

AKABUR SENPAI. Since I have Mia now, I have access to her personal story, and I’m happy to report that apparently even the localizers couldn’t resist her cuteness and decided to give up and let her say “senpai.” Here’s the thing: I play with Japanese dubs (the phrase “Japanese dubs” sounds a bit strange, since Japanese would normally be the original voice-over—but because this is a Chinese game, they are technically Japanese dubs). The characters constantly use Japanese honorifics, but they’re usually translated as Mr. or Miss, or more often just omitted altogether. So for me personally, it was a really nice surprise to hear her address me as “senpai” and then read the same thing in the English translation as well. Good stuff. <3

DID YOU KNOW? In Snowbreak (as of right now), you can marry 6 out of 20+ operatives under your command. And I mean all six of them at once. And it’s not some gimmick — it’s actually part of the main story and gets brought up often during both main and side events. What’s more, for every wedding you get a customized ring that you can equip (or not) on any finger you want. You can equip just one, or as many as you have, and they’ll show up on your character’s hands during cutscenes. I only have one, because weddings cost real money — and also because I only had interest in one of the six girls currently available. ^^

TO OTHER UNRELATED NEWS! I decided to buy an RG35XXSP. Fuck it. It’s New Year’s, and I’m 40+ fucking years old — I can do what I want! And it’s only like $50 on the official Anbernic page (on AliExpress). I know I don’t need it, but I want a Game Boy Advance–dedicated device that looks like a Game Boy SP! I want to put all the The Sims games on it! Also URBZ, Harvest Moon, Sword Craft Story, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, Advance Wars, Comix Zone and that’s it. After that, I’ll probably just let it collect dust. But I still wanted it, and I bought it. End of story! It should be here in a week or so. ^_^

THE WORK. I have some good news to brag about. Last week was super productive for me. I didn’t mention this before, but I’ve actually been having some trouble with the Skatergirl character. I got her visual design right, but I just couldn’t nail down her personality in a way that felt right to me. I even had to rewrite some of her earlier events because her personality was all over the place. But finally, I was able to develop her enough to the point where I’m happy with her. Yay. I know this doesn’t really tell you much, but just take my word for it: Skatergirl will feel alive and exciting to interact with, and her ending routes will feature multiple events and be extremely distinct from one another.

QUICK QUESTION! In the game, there will be multiple A/B choices where your decision adds +1 toward one of a character’s endings. This worked well with Azalea in PT, where certain replies clearly pushed her toward either her public or private ending. For Reporter Trainer, I’m thinking about adding a short notice after each such choice, like: “Your choice pushed Skatergirl one step closer to her Bitter ending.” This would help players understand whether they’re progressing in the direction they want. However, I’m worried this might take away from making choices naturally and only seeing the consequences at the end. So the question is: should I add these notices, or leave things more ambiguous?AND THAT IS all I have to say for now. Thank you for checking out another one of my Monday Posts! The year is almost over, which means the next Monday Post will be next year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, cherished bros! Stay around for a few more days — we’ve almost made it through 2025!!!

Laterz.

Merry Christmas bro To answer your question with a question is there any way you could make it an option in the settings to toggle the warning on or off? Personally I don’t mind either way as I will replay it multiple times to get all the scenes and dialogue

Goloro1122

So to answer you on the question, in my opinion if you added obvious notices it will take away from the enjoyment of the game, but I would like to know that said choice changed something, so I suggest you'd do something like "skatergirl will remember this" kind of notice implying that it's important for the endings, and maybe after you finish one ending the notice would only reveal the same ending you did, I can't really explain it, but I think you get the idea

Ace

Merry Xmas. First, on the question, I think having the path cleared take away from the enjoyment, not sure if you could make it like a toggle, that its available after the first time. Good news on your laptop, hope the fans arrive soon and is ineresting that in a game you can only marry a fraction of the cast, keep up teh great job!

James Shmo

On the question : Could you make it an item that is purchasable in a shop somewhere? That way people who wanted it, could grind the money to buy it. People who don't want that option just don't buy it.

Corey Wilke

As others have said, having it just on and always show up disrupts immersion. That said during additional play throughs it would be nice to know what path you're on for 100% completion, toggle would be nice. Thank you for all that you do communicating and such it is appreciated!

MrLazare

About the choices: I personally prefer not seeing explicit +1 notices on screen. Just like in real life, I like making decisions without knowing the exact outcome, and only realizing later where they led. That ambiguity feels more immersive to me. Also, it’s great to hear that Skatergirl finally clicked for you! On a related note, I’m really curious about Irma: will she have a very distinct, fleshed-out personality of her own? Are you leaning toward something close to her TV-series traits but more refined, or are you taking her in a slightly different direction this time? Anyway, thanks again for all the updates, and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you.

In witcher 3, they use yellow color on important choices, which alters the ending for better or worse. If you can do that with two colors (green-good, blue-bitter), players will know what to do without you explain every time. Or use two shades of same color and don't tell which is good or bad. They know it is important, so they be careful. And if they don't like that choice, they can replay the game with alternate choices. And If you are a programming genius, you can add an option to turn this off leaving all dialogue options in white so the story fully mysterious. Also many Asian cultures allows you to marry multiple girls and you are an Asian too. Have fun with marriages

None of my gifts looks like the top pic or the last gif. But I have some videos of women in cars like that with the sweater stretchers popping out. Sounds like your enjoying yourself and getting work done. My gift was a new freedom package sender.

Varsh

I have always liked those accessibility settings. Have a toggle in the settings for her endings and color code them. I think you did that in the Queen trainer (great game, enjoyed it a lot 😁). I'd still inform the user in the beginning first, and then let them decide if they want it on or not.

Bob

Maybe add a setting to enable/disable the +1 notifications? Also you can never go wrong with Arctic thermal paste so good choice there.

P

I don't think you need extra lines, a simple color swap or a small icon at the end of the choice can tell the player they are making a specific group/trend of choices. I'll replay it multiple times anyway, I just like a simple "oh if I pick the blue choices I get the blue end, whatever that means"

akabur

This is a fantastic idea actually!!! Thank you. I also thought about making this a NewGame+ thing, but the shop idea sounds way more interesting :)

Dran78

i came to say yes to the notices but i like the other commenters suggestions on color coding them. i think that's the best middle ground especially if we do a new game plus like queen trainer

Ham

Regarding character endings, I think it would be distracting to have the progress notification pop up in play, but maybe it could be present on a stats page for people who like to consult that stuff.

Trevor Bond

Yeah, the colour coding option is a good one. Less intrusive, but still lets you know in case you're not aware of how a choice goes. Sounds fair to me! Hope your games continue to delight. Merry Latemas and Happy New Year!

J

My suggestion as far as Skatergirl's ending is concerned, is to let the choices be ambiguous during the first playthrough. Then, in subsequent runs, allow the players to choose whether they want a notice or not. Make it a New Game+ sort of bonus.

Goloro1122

The shop thing does sound interesting, like a meta way for the MC to know which direction to take

colin Noonmos

I think the choice info should be available as a setting, but not on by default.

vokzole2

Happy New Year my bros!!!

Alexander Semino

A little late but merry Christmas. As for your question, first play trough I like things fresh and unknown. that being said, I wouldn't mind an option in a subsequent play to show when I've already selected that choice and to tell me this is leads to ending X. though i suspect that's a little too much coding work....

GamerLegend09

I want to get a pin too but my laptop overheated and I can’t use discord through my iPhone so I’m stuck on how to “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!” To him 😣😖😫

Jon Hansson

Make it an emotion ring. Able to actually detect emotion hehe

NatureOfLove86

Waiting for the pregnancy moments and birth in your beautiful game and same time wishing you and all of others a happy new year to you all and to your family and friends of year 2026 🎊🎇🎆🎊💗🥰✨️🙏🏼

akabur

Yes, I I thought about making it optional. Or maybe making it so that it unlocks after you beat the game once.

akabur

Yeah, I know what you mean. The easiest way to do this would be just put [!] next to any choices that have any variables behind them. Maybe I'll do something like that. And yes I also thought about player being able to unlock this sort of messages only in NewGame+.

akabur

Yes. That is what I am worried about. I don't want things to feel too obvious (and almost mathematical) but at the same time I want to avoid the feeling when you don't know what the heck you are doing. Adding a toggle in NewGame+ sounds most appealing to meat the moment.

akabur

Yeah, from what I have gathered from the replies, my idea about how to do this was very close to how majority of you guys seem to feel about it. Basically the major points are: unlock it in NewGame+ and make toggle to turn it off if necessary.

akabur

Yes, it seems like everyone agrees that the "you are one step closer to the ending A" message should be strictly option or better yet only available in NewGame+. As for Irma, yes, I want to give her her own story arc with two endings as well. But we will see how it goes, if development ends up taking too long again I may have to cut her ending to just one. But I still want to give a side-story arc to every character (including the make ones).

MrLazare

Fantastic idea, I like it.

akabur

Well the question was not necessarily HOW to indicate the choices, but rather should it be done at all. Although I do like the idea of highlighting somehow the important ones. ^^

akabur

Yes, there are quite a few GIFs like that floating around the internet. Never gets old XD

akabur

Yes, I will probably end up doing something like that. I think giving the player and ability to turn this information ON or OFF is the most important thing here. And yes, there was a "TUNR ON THE HINTS" option in Queen Trainer, it unlocked in NewGame+ ^^

akabur

Yes. The majority of the comments suggest some sort of NO/OFF switch for that, and I will most likely do it like that. Also glad you approve of the paste. Like I said I don't know anything about it, just got the one with most good reviews XD

akabur

Right. Yeah. Many people suggested just marking the choices somehow. I did something like that in Queen Trainer where you could turn those markings ON after beating the game once. Yeah, I will probably end up doing something similar here as well.

akabur

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion after reading all the comments :)

akabur

Yeah. Judging from all the comments everybody is pretty much of the same opinion on this. :)

akabur

Yes, that's probably how I will end up doing this. I am glad I decided to discuss this with you guys. :)

akabur

Yeah. Exactly. New Game+ unlockable option. Sounds good!

akabur

Yes. Looks like everybody here has more or less idea about this. OK, I shall do it like that then :)

akabur

No, it's not too much work. This was exactly why I asked you guys for your opinion. I did something similar already with Queen Trainer where you could toggle the hints ON and OFF after beating the game once. Sure, it does take a bit of extra work on my part, but I think it is a necessary addition to the gameplay :)

akabur

You can always DM me here and I will just forward you message to MrLazare. :)

akabur

Thank you for the good wishes, but I simply don't have the resources to create a game that would also include you having children. XD
