This is one of my lesser-known illustrations—at least, that’s how it feels to me. It’s an old piece, and looking at it now, I can’t help but feel nostalgic for a time when I had all the time in the world and could afford to make illustrations as detailed as I wanted.

Anyway, this pack contains a high-definition JPEG file (4151×2988) and a pencil scan that miraculously survived. Unfortunately, the PSD file with all the layers has been lost to time.

This one really feels like opening an old sketchbook from another era. You can sense the time, patience, and obsession for detail that went into it!!! Thanks for still taking the time to keep the shop updated, even when your schedule is clearly packed. At the end of the day, it’s these drawings that made many of us fall in love with your work in the first place. And even if you can’t afford to spend that same amount of time on single illustrations anymore, they’re still here, they still matter. Now we also have your interactive games, which are something else entirely. Different, evolving, alive , but still part of the same whole. It all connects. Honestly, the ideal solution would probably be an Akabur clone working on illustrations whenever the original is busy coding. Until science catches up, we’ll happily take everything you can give. 💛

Its an awesome pic, all the details on this one are fantastic

It was a first for me too!

Oh man, this really hit the feels... Now I am sitting here, reminiscing about how the internet used to look and function. We really had something special going on there for a while, too bad it is all gone. Thanks for sharing this one, and thanks for always being an amazing guy

Glad you posted it for us to enjoy so this genius work is not lost to time. One day maybe 100 years from now someone might print it out and we find it hanging in the louve next to the Mona Lisa and people will think how would Leonardo da Vinci have painted if he had been a contemporary of yours.

Thank you for your kind words. As for the "akabur clone", maybe AI will evolve into something else entirely at some point and I will just be able to teach it to be me. On the second thought it sounds kind of depressing. XD

Thanks, Ace. I know you are a true appreciator of old school illustrations like this.

Nice. Stay tuned, maybe I will be able to dig up something else you have missed :)

This is good to hear. I am glad I took the time to upload this one here :)

> "We really had something special going on there for a while, too bad it is all gone." I can't agree more with your words. That's exactly how I feel... *sigh*

Ha-ha-ha. OK, sure :) But personally I don't care about a museum. What I want is some young dude of the future looking at it and thinking: "Well, they sure knew how to draw educational pictures back in the day." XD

But hey! There are still people doing do good work on here, might not be the same place it was years ago, but you make it way better by bringing back some of the soul
