It's so chill. Reading about the history of EC makes me sad. Looks like Sega felt it was competing with Virtua Fighter, and they didn't want 2 fighting games, so they axed EC. Both games are so different they could have kept both.

Yep, plus the 32 bit era and beyond had much better equipped hardware for 2d fighters but most companies were desperate for that 3D. Poor sega saturn, it was such beastly hardware underused

Also did you know the Saturn has a Yamaha sound chip in it? Akin to the arcade hardware of the times, but it has something crazy like 32 channels. But hardly any game actually utilised it and went for red book audio. Similar on the dreamcast too
