Imagine if you are in the Shire starting a story after Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin return from defeating Sauron. Each episode starts with a timeline reference counting from the death of Himmel and usually there will be a flashback as something reminds Frieren of an event from the party's quest that now has her learning what she was being shown in the party's quest.

Hey guys, this show has great attention to detail. For example, in Episode 1, they pass by this stone wall on road heading to the capital. There is almost no moss on the wall. 50 years later, when Frieren comes to see Himmel to go see the meteor shower at the Lake, she passes by the same wall and there is a lot of moss on the wall and it looked aged. Evan Call is an American composer (who resides in Japan) who did all the classical style music score for Frieren. He is quite well known and had done music for many other Anime's like Violet Evergarden, Tokyo ESP, Muv-luv Alternative, et al. The music and animation style for Frieren and Violet Evergarden is very similar. Tanezaki Atsumi, the voice actor of Frieren, is also the voice actress for Gyokuyou in Apothecary Diaries. I thought you guys may enjoy a bit of trivia there since you are watching both series. Also, you should know that the second season of Frieren has officially been announced to start airing in January of 2026 for the Winter Season. Chat to you all later (By the way, this is C. Davis on twitch and discord lol)

everything in this is animated so beautifully. I love that this anime doesn't skimp on the detail when its showing everything from flowers to magic blasts to hair swaying.

This anime restored my love of fantasy anime. It isn't as if it doesn't have action scenes. Trust me, it will. But it is so well written with such an awesome story and so phenomenally well animated. You will learn about her past and how she became the way she is along her journey to understand why Himmel's death so moved her so deeply in the first episode.

Frieren is a show that has found a good balance between chill moments and action. While action isn't a main focus of it, it's still done with the same quality as the rest of the anime. The first 4 episodes were all released at the same time, btw, and I'll explain the most likely reason in the comments for episode 4 once you post the reaction.

This show reminds me a lot of Spice and Wolf that has a lot of subtle world building and then the emotional and big moments are spaced out a bit more.

Totally agree! Very stoked about getting more into this anime. I really love it so far

Ah for real. There are so many subtle things that make even the smallest moments so magical. I'm glad you pointed that out. I was starting to notice a lot about how their hair moves.

Yooo for real, that is wild. I just rewatched the fellowship of the rings recently so that hits. Okay that's cool to know about the timeline reference, i'll be on the lookout for that in the next episode!

Every time I see Himmel, I want to cry. .... I think this episode in part emphasized the importance of carrying memories into the future, to prolong the lives of loved ones, something I had never thought of before. ..... Also, it showed Frieren wasn't just wasting time, she had a plan, or just an idea, she just didn’t tell Fern about it.

Hey guys! Loved seeing you enjoy this second episode. And really glad to hear you're both liking the characters thus far. As John mentioned, there are 28 episodes in total for this first season so you will definitely get to know more about them as the show progresses. And for me, the way this show slowly unravels the layers of each character is one of it's major strengths. Looking forward to the next episode!

Love this reaction, remember fern is like 14 or 15 here and love the questions you have, keep watching and you’ll see!

Do you have a schedule of which shows come out on which days 🙏🏽 or is it random? Asking so I know when to check for the shows I want to watch the reactions to 😅 Thank you!

This is a good anime, it's kind of sad and healing. Btw Taka(OneOkRock) seldom watch anime but he watched this series, he talked about this in interview lol
