Hey folks thank you for your patience while I had extremely personally plot relevant months.

Today it is a dark grey rainy day in Toronto, perfect for getting a good sleep, waking at nine and organizing your coming literary needs.

Everything Patreon is starting up again with renewed sincerity & passion. Starting of course with the deepest narrowest node of CJ The X content, the Kill The Internet book club.

Life In Code is a collection of essays by computer programmer, author, and human being Ellen Ullman that she wrote over the course of decades in the field of coding, from 1994-2014.

Consider the internet's development from 1994-2014. Now imagine being an architect of those changes. Now imagine trying to express all of this emotionally through personal essay in a way that captures things that need to be captured. Now stop imagining it, because you can read it with us in August/Sept.

I think after much experimentation I've got a kind of decent feel for appropriate timeline/page count. We'll be covering 30-odd pages per week over the course of 8 weeks, bookmark threads coming every Friday. Bookmark threads, can you believe we haven't called them that till now?

Note that bc of the way things work out, week 3 you have 42 pages, all of Part II. Plan for that slightly heavier reading load. Week 7 you only have 24 pages so there's a lil relaxation. Schedules look like this from now on. Thanks to...

I want to thank my childhood best friend Ally who is coming onboard to keep Patreon content organized and consistent. Long time coming because we love working together and she is fantastic with aesthetically coherent administration of excellent things.

She is keeping me accountable and things on track so that I like myself, you like me, and most importantly so that the art continues to art and the community can community.

Everyone say thanks Ally you're the best keep that whore in check (im the whore)

(why am i wearing a basketball shirt? when did i ever? basketball?)

Starting August there will be monthly/weekly uploads every Wednesday. Social No Para eps, Conversations With, & now introducing Album/Movie of the month threads alongside book club.

I'll still post my sporadic art on here whenever I feel compelled to but you can now rely on four monthly uploads in addition to that. And book club bookmark Fridays.

Yes & videos too I'll fix my disease I did my research I'll do my job now too.

.

more tomorrow. if you're in Toronto i hope your power didnt go out like mine did

Haven't heard of this book, but having a Computer Science degree and years in the internet industry, it sounds right up my alley.

Exciting! I've been missing the patreon uploads, can't wait to see what's coming!

We're so back!!! Is Album/Movie of the month an "either or" thing or are we watching Dune (2021) while listening to Dark Side of the Moon? don't wanna be greedy, excited either way <3

So, just to be clear: we're reading the first two essays before august second, not starting to read the first two essays beginning august second?

annie liz

we are back we are living we are joyous we are basking in the sunlight we are killing the internet slowly with a knife

I just went and bought like 10+ science fiction books at three different second hand bookstores last week after discovering those little hidden gems in plain sight. And now I'm back to the old habit of putting newly bought books on the back-burner while jumping to a new book that peaked my interest (Life in Code). Absolutely diabolical of you. Maybe I'll be able to cram in a few books before August?

Just ordered my copy of Life in Code and am very excited for my first time participating in KTi. Also looking forward to the upcoming Album/Movie of the month threads! I've been consumed by work lately and bogged down by my ~Big Girl Corporate Day Job~ and miss just learning for the sake of personal discovery and development of my own interests. I haven't exercised or challenged this part of my brain in an embarrassingly long time, but I'm excited to ease back into it with this book club. Thank you, sincerely, CJ and Ally for cultivating this space + fellow Patrons for investing in it <3 Looking forward to August!
