A conversation about gods, cosmic contracts and creativity.

This one starts off pretty normal, talking about Olive's art, the creative process etc. then around the 16 minute mark they start talking about minor deities and the untrustworthiness of the Fae and we started to tumble down an incredible mind bending dialogue about Faeries and gods and contracts with demons that I was NOT expecting at ALL.

Unbeknownst to either of us beforehand, Olive and I have similar experiences with magic and minor deities, but we've never really found another person who genuinely feels reality like this. As such this turned out an unnerving bloodlet for each of us to be honest about how we ACTUALLY feel about our creativity, in a language we don't normally use outside of our own minds.

We talk over each other a lot in our excitement and reflective neurotic obsession.

This is gonna be my first comment in this patreon. I’ve been going through these conversations and was initially hesitant to listen to this one because i felt like it was gonna be waaay too esoterical for me and my gosh how wrong i was. This was an eye-opening experience. Just the way your experiences complimented each other was magical to witness. The Dune-like prescience you talk about in the end really makes me think that you both are some special minor deities yourself that i hope will find a way to exist in our mortal plane because existing purely in this meta-prescient-creative state in the heavens is, as you said cj, dangerously close to a literal god complex. What creativity can do to mfs truly.

Such an honor to talk to you, lots to think about. I wasn’t confronting this aspect of my life properly until we talked and it’s amazing to find someone who relates to me on this

Idk if y’all are familiar with Don Hertzfeldt, but he’s an experimental filmmaker and he just released this clip talking about how inspiration/creativity hits; it made me think of your conversation: https://youtu.be/ZyjtYl28WkM - I also highly recommend you check out his short film World of Tomorrow, which is now available to watch for free for I think the first time ever on his YouTube channel (jfc I just sound like a giant Don Hertzfeldt ad). The film itself kind of touches on our relationship with the internet and how it’s become intwined in our souls. https://youtu.be/4PUIxEWmsvI

Holy shit. This was great. Thank you guys so much for sharing. This really resonated with me. I too have never heard someone talk about "the muse" in terms of the far, and this is 100% my jam. I was raised Catholic, then Lutheran, and now I consider myself a witch (not wiccan) and my experience of writing really lines up with what y'all were saying. The relationship between the divine and "fae" is what a lot of my stories are/ will be about. Again, thank you so much for sharing this. You're beautiful.

Really enjoyed listening to you two discuss precognition/prescience and this connection to minor deities/gods and God. Similar to Dune, this inherent intuition, or 'knowing,' plays out in the Shining and there is something in all of this that I would love to dig into deeper. Lately I've been exploring more of the science behind having a body and treating my body like a personal science experiment. But part of the experiment is also playing around with how we can connect to this deeper level beyond the material, the precognition/prescience of what is happening around us –and then also disconnect from it. Everything isn't in our control, but I find comfort in trying to find a way to almost optimize my life, but then there is that same catch and hubris —the fear of being 'calculating.' It is comforting and confirming to hear that others are thinking about these things and experiencing them in their own ways. Thank you for sharing your conversation!

This was such an interesting conversation to tune into. I was raised completely atheist, and would spend my days in the forest as a child communing with the fae... I felt crazy because it was more than a game of play pretend for me, I could feel powerful, more so than some people around me, and would make little deals with them and give them offerings. After years of not feeling validated in this as a child, I sort of let that go and forgot about it for a long while, until I recently stumbled upon witchcraft a year ago. (I'm 23 now so it much have been like 11-12 years without a connection to spirituality). I'm actually having a really hard time rekindling that sensitivity and openness to the other realms, and even defining what it all means to myself. I've been trying to do so through witch craft but all the lines are fuzzy and I don't know where to start or how to implement anything I learn into my life. This conversation was really insightful because it showed me a little portal to those feelings, showed me what exactly they feel like and where they are. Showed me that maybe I've actually been tuned in for a long time, in ways I was hiding from myself~ I'm an artist too, and I definitely clicked some pieces of my process together after listening to you talk! Thank you both :)
