That's a wrap!

In an exceedingly tight race, voting teetered by a margin of less than one percent. The people are divided. Who'd have known our very first election would be so contentious!

It really seemed one side was going to win with 51% of the vote, but at the last moment the underdog pulled back that 1% causing a TIE!!!

Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I must arbitrate the final decision.

The livestream topic is will be.....

*drum roll*

.....

...

BARBIE! Corporations & Art! <3

I'm sorry to the people that didn't get what they want! but I hope you will enjoy this choice anyways. There's always next month!

On Monday September 25 at 6pm EST the livestream will be talking about the contentious inescapable relationship between corporations and art, as well discussions of the many layers of Quality around Barbie directed by Greta Gerwig.

And if you can't wait for that (you can) then tune in tomorrow at 4:30pm EST for the Olivia Rodrigo SOUR Live Listen & Analysis. It will be immortalized for Patrons to participate in at any time forever and ever, so if you can't make it live you can always do this guided meditation with us. Bring your headphones!!! YES you have to listen along.

I'll see you at those times!

If you have suggestions for future subjects to livestream OR suggestions for future Book Club books, drop them below!

suggestion for a future Book Club book: Let This Radicalize You by Mariame Kaba and Kelly Hayes

can outvoted topics go into the next month's poll? i'd really like to hear CJ talk about Barbie, Corporations & Art and it would suck if that's just off the table forever now

Phew, that was a scary moment for democracy

I would love to do a religion book at some point, possibly in advance of the eventual queer christianity video. :) Idk though, I kinda don't want to pick. I was thinking about this book club earlier - it's like a casual class with a funky professor about whatever they decided to put in the curriculum. I know you (CJ) are our Benevolent Overlord and I accept it - I'm here for the Getting Benevolently Overlorded Experience and for any office hours thereof.

my favorite novel rn currently is the dsm-5. i think its neat.

annabel_182

maybe "the geography of nowhere" by james howard kunstler (city planning, car centered communities, etc.) for the book club? or "men who hate women" by laura bates (online misogynist communities)

I'm going to totally ignore this post and instead say hi! I'm a gremlin that works in an art gallery and I decided to use my art gallery money to fund more art. Thank you for your YouTube content it is very helpful to my recent life and experiences. Also pls don't feed me after midnight k thx bye.

I don't go to the theater, but the movie is out on video now. I'm planning on watching it this weekend.

I have a suggestion for Book Club: A History Of The World In 10.5 Chapters by Julian Barnes. Would be interesting to hear people bounce off of it

PLEASE DO A COLLAB WITH ISMATU GWENDOLYN (or don’t. but GOD that would be a dream come true as y’all share so much in common philosophically as humans on the internet)
