2026-09-10 11:00 It's worth pointing out that Aegon only wanted some affirmation and love from Alicent. He's never recieved any kind of positive validation from anyone -- so his mother telling him that he's useless and he won't ever be able to be a good king so he should stop trying was NOT helpful. In fact, him flying out on Sunfyre to battle was him trying to prove himself after Alicent tore him down.

omg u missed the best symbolism tho ((last shot of sunfyre, in beams of sunlight surrounded by fires)) alicent treated all of her kids pretty poorly in their own ways, and it explains a lot about how their personalities turned out. which i appreciate, both because it informs the kids’ characters, and also is realistic as poor alicent became a reluctant mother at like age 16/17. ((to be clear, im just referring to the show writing. in the book the ages and dynamics of all the characters are different))

oh btw daemon didn’t really have blood on his hand in that scene in his bed (in the next shot it had vanished). also i do not think (but idk for sure) that alys licked blood off her hands— people have speculated that it’s likely weirwood sap/paste ((those important spirit trees with the red leaves)). and that guy daemon was talking to after drinking the weirwood (spirit tree) drink, willem blackwood, was the little boy in season 1 who waited in line to propose to rhaenyra. in that scene, he’s mocked by and then kills an older bracken boy. ((foreshadowing for this blackwood/bracken conflict))

i HATE seeing the dragons get hurt :( sunfyre was so excited to fly out with aegon just to get hurt like that over stupid human fights. the squeals :(

Rhaenys dying is a horrible moment. She was my favourite character too. I like that this episode shows the old trope of young men itching to fight because they've never experienced a real war. The dragons are like nuclear weapons that hurt everyone, even the people on their side. Everyone talks tough until they see a dragon incinerate someone.

Aww...Hugs Hannah! I know this episode hit hard, losing Rhaenys and Meyles. She definitely went out as a legend. Despite knowing she'd most likely not survive fighting Vaghar, she didn't back down. Props to her. I thought Rhaenyra should have went with her, they would've had a better chance. Too risky i suppose. A lot to feel there. Can't wait until the next episode with you! Thank you!
