Stick to the end for the Ankha presets. Now the trial begins.

You do not remember entering the temple. Only that four Ankhas are waiting.

They are not sisters. They are not copies. Two flames burn before each of them.

One bears Desire. One bears Deserving.

The first Ankha waits in white straps and gold chains. The chains hang from her wrists and ornaments. Even sitting freely before you, something about her still carries the memory of restraint.

Thralless:β€œTell me. Who decides what you deserve?”

You hesitate.

Thralless:β€œYour family? Your rulers? Your gods? Those who reward obedience and punish defiance?”

Her eyes narrow.

Thralless:β€œI once lived according to answers given by others.”

She looks toward the flame of Deserving.

Thralless:β€œA beautiful prison remains a prison.”

You understand. You extinguish Deserving.

The flame dies. For the first time, Thralless seems lighter.

Thralless:β€œGood. Before you can become anything... you must first belong to yourself.”

Freedom begins where imposed judgment ends.

The second Ankha waits draped in brilliant blue. There are no chains here.

Nothing restrains her. That is precisely the danger.

Temptress:β€œSo now you are free.”

Her eyes almost smile.

Temptress:β€œYou may take what you want. Chase what pleases you.

Follow every hunger. No one can stop you.”

She leans slightly closer.

Temptress:β€œDoes that make you free?”

The question lingers.

You look toward Desire. A different kind of chain. One that needs no jailer.

You extinguish it.

Temptress watches the flame disappear.

Temptress:β€œBetter.”

β€œTo escape another's command is only the beginning.”

β€œIf your desires command you instead, you merely changed masters.”

To want is human, but to be ruled by wanting is weakness.

The third Ankha feels different. Calmer. Neither restrained nor indulgent.

She sits between the flames as though they belong there.

Priestess:β€œYou have learned to remove. You have learned to resist.”

She looks from one flame to the other.

Priestess:β€œBut tell me... if you spend your whole life cutting pieces from yourself, what remains to grow?”

You look again.

Desire can become ambition. Deserving can become standards. Neither must rule you.

But neither must be destroyed simply because it can. You reach toward the flames...

...and extinguish neither.

For the first time, Ankha smiles.

Priestess:β€œNow you understand. Discipline is not emptiness.”

β€œA garden is not cultivated by tearing out everything that grows. Learn what to nourish.”

Not every tension must be broken. Some must live together.

The final Ankha waits. No greeting. No question. No words at all. Only silence.

The same two flames burn before her. Desire. Deserving. You wait for her to speak.

She does not.

And slowly, you understand why.

Thralless needed to escape what others placed upon her. Temptress needed to master what rose from within her. Priestess learned to use both without becoming servant to either. Each stage was necessary.

But the Goddess is no longer struggling against chains. She is no longer wrestling with appetite. She is no longer deciding which part of herself deserves cultivation.

Those lessons built her. They do not define her anymore. You look at the two flames one final time. Then extinguish both.

Darkness. For a moment, nothing exists but Ankha's eyes.

She says nothing. She does not need to.

You finally understand the fourth lesson yourself.

Mastery is knowing when no offered choice deserves your obedience.

Four Ankhas take a stand and move closer to you.

The flames were never enemies. They were tools. Lessons. Steps.

Thralless:

"Belong to yourself."

Temptress:

"Govern yourself."

Priestess:

"Cultivate yourself."

Goddess:

"...."

The temple begins to fade.

Before the darkness takes it, you catch a clear look at the four Ankhas.

"transcend yourself"
