Well, with Ranma having, for once, won the Patron Only poll (still wondering how DA did so poorly this time, a lot of people whose votes I see there normally weren’t there this time, which is odd, but with a carry-over effect of 814 waiting in the wings, it probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway) it only makes sense for me to post the HP poll first.
I could have just taken August’s HP poll and used that, but I decided not to, as I know that we are close to the end of this arc of Fate. This chapter and the next will do it. Much like with Death’s Avenger, I will then be putting that work on semi-hold for a bit as I switch to push Magic of the Force and FILFy Teacher, which would replace Fate in the poll.
The choices in the HP poll this time are:
A Fate-Touched In Middle Earth – HP/Tolkien Crossover: With a plan in place, the dwarves get to work, while Harry gets to know the men of Dale, hearing some amusing rumors about himself and his lady, who at that moment is actually heading southward, sort of, in pursuit of her quarry. The strange siege continues, with the Easterlings sending in a proving attack, only for those who had urged such to realize quickly why the siege was the better idea. Soon, the plan is finished, and Thorin and his army go on the attack in a manner that could only be done by the dwarves, while Harry and Saruman do their part. Suddenly without any kind of cavalry, the battle enters it’s second stage as the Blacklocks and remaining Longbeards go over the top, with scorpions crashing behind them. Done with long range spells, Harry and Saruman engage in close combat, proving a deadly combination, with Saruman watching all. Thorin and his guard come face to face with the enemy commander in a duel witnessed by both sides. While far to the south, another campaign continues, with far more success, and to the northwest of Harry’s current position, his lady catches up to her quarry, only to regret that decision instantly…
Bhaalson Remodel – HP/Baldur’s Gate/Gamer crossover: Harry and company ambush a group of bandits and thugs, meeting a grief-stricken ranger elf named Kivan, who wants to work with them but also tries to kill Viconia on sight. Harry shouts and puts his foot down, and Kivan, desperate for help, agrees to work with them despite certain tensions. Heading north, they find that these mines have something in common with the mines in Nashkel even before entering the mines themselves. An attempt to sneak in fails, resulting in a controlled reaction from the mine’s owners, Davaorn and the half-ogre named Tazok, Kivan’s target. This fight forces a rethink on Harry’s part, which works very well indeed as they continue into the mines, where, to no one’s surprise, the two villains have retreated. Despite success in battle, a few close calls and several moments of discord occur, pushing Harry’s Charisma and diplomacy to the limit, even as the party continues deeper into the mines with several new goals to take into account.
Magic of the Force – Star Wars/HP crossover: Dominus and his Grand Fleet jump into Duros, finding themselves faced not with half a trap as they expected, but a full one, it’s jaws closing in on the entire fleet. The largest battle thus far I the war begins, as two fully operational Tyrant class vessels announce their presence. Dominus tries and fails to keep the bubble as the GDL make use of one resource the CIS can’t match: the number of good, small unit commanders they have. Alecto’s presence grabs Dominus’s attention as he tries to turn the tide, and a rock meets a Sith, with the Sith never realizing his true intent. While Harry and the Bane are sidelined while their fleet pulls together, Aayla awakes, and she and Zule have a moment prior to entering Hutt space. The war changes dramatically, while Thrawn contemplates his next move and a disciplinary issue. A new apprentice steps forward to lead the Sith, while Plo Koon and the others return to Republic-held space, carrying new information, as Sidious feels the noose once more tightening around him, and Padme is forced to head off political chicanery once-removed.
This will end on the 15th. I am not going to write out the full tournament in Climbing Together I thought I would, because my muse decided to take the chapter in a very strange direction. Heh. Magic will still get the carry over effect of ¼ of the month of July’s poll of 459. As I didn’t even use the HP poll in August (August: I fuck your plans up the ass. With no lube) it doesn’t seem right to either update it to ½ or go back and take the votes from that poll.
I… may vote in this one. I would rather like to finish this arc of Fate quickly.
Oh, and the lime has been added to King of Champions, if anyone’s interested.
