December 2022 Small Story Poll Results (Patreon)

Howdy all. Hope this Sunday treats you all well (LET’s GO EAGLES). It is time to end the small story poll. I will also be ending the patron only poll. This way I can allocate time/decide which to work on first, and hopefully get fics out to my editors in time enough to let them look the chapters over.

King of Champions 6 should also be out this evening. Hope you all enjoy it.

Anyway, here are the results:

In very, very last place, having done abysmally, is Horse for the Force. 34 votes over on fanfic, and a total of 704. This despite it being the fic closest to completion. OUCH.

Now onto the part of the poll that wasn’t obvious coming in.

For the first time, EVER since it joined the small story poll, in Stallion of the Line comes in second place, with a great showing of 114 over on fanfic, and a total of 3,277.

But, thanks to the carry-over effect of 1,319 and the aid of 165 votes from fanfic, the winner is Magic of the Force with a total of 3,934.

Now…. This puts me in a bad position honestly. More than any other, December is a month I would really like to do a 2:2. That is, two Ranma fics, and two HP fics. BUT I also already said I would be putting my votes down on Bhaalson Remodel, and it will also be getting the carry-over effect because it has been so many months. So… should I recant that? And put my votes down for Making Waves? Just let it go wherever it will without my votes? Or should I force my muse to actually keep to the small story format, and then hope I have time to work on something else at the end of the month, and make it 2:3?

Decisions… decisions…

Personally, I'd love to see another chapter for Making Waves. I really want to see the "time skip" arc move along more. And honestly, I REALLY want to see Ranma's reaction to his and Erza's child when they get back.

Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase Don't do that! I get you want to show Ranma some love, but Bhaalson hardly ever gets any. Like it only gets updated maybe two or three times a year. I need my gamer Harry Potter story, most of them have died and this is the one that I truly enjoy reading the most.

Also, other side note have you ever thought about doing another gamer style story with either Ranma or mha? Or even a different Harry Potter story. It's such a niche and underutilized system nowadays for fanfiction that I'll be I highly interested to see you do another take on it.

i get that you want to do a 2:2 ranma and HP, and i enjoy both groups of stories, so i'll still be happy whichever way you swing

As sad, as it is, I have to say that carrying over to Bhaalson is more important and thus preventing lone stories never getting updated!

Just an FYI, I'd normally be a Horse... voter but when I saw that it had no chance, I threw my vote at my 2nd choice that had a chance - Magic. So the fact that Horse... had so few votes may be because of others like me that saw their vote for a losing thing being wasted and deciding they'd at least help their closer to winning 2nd choice. I admit that I am one of those that is very disappointed in the long lack of updates of the three Ranma fics I like - Gods and Devils and Wild Horses..., Horse for the Force, and The Effect of a Horse & a Dragon. I wish you would consider cycling through all of them rather than voting every month. Even worse, you are starting new fics that further delay these existing fics ever getting updates, much less actually ever being completed.

The muse goes where it pleases… that said, I am very excited to read more Bhaalson and I am a huge fan of the Ranma fics that never seem to come out on top. Can you do blind polling to keep people from going with their 2nd choice when the 1st choice is in last place? Or maybe one of the fic choices should only be up to you. I’m not a client, I’m a patron. Go wild!

It ultimately up to you but i think a lot of people would enjoy a waves chapter considering its long hiatus

Nooooo, it's not Bhaalson's fault that carryover broke Stallion's streak! Don't deprive us of more Viconia awesomeness T-T. Aside from that very important comment. I wanted to point out what I'm guessing is the reason Horse for the Force tanked so hard. This is just my own feeling on the matter, so take it with a grain or ten of salt...but Horse ALREADY feels like it ended. With the death of Big Bad in Palpatine, the war is effectively already decided, and all that remains is to see how long it lasts and how bloody it is. The whole premise of the Sith taking over from within was predicated on the basis that it's effectively impossible to externally conquer the Republic, simply because of it's sheer size. That leaves whatever happens to Ranma and Co past the current point feeling like mostly just...epilogue. The climax of the story is over, we feel we know how it's going to go, and we aren't expecting any big surprises really. True or not, I would guess that's most people's perspective on it. And if I'm right about that, it's going to struggle to get votes compared to...everything else.

I was really really hoping for an update of bhaalson's. I wish you would do a round Robin just to keep those kinds of cases going.

I'd really love to see a Bhaalson update but if you want to do 2:2 then maybe you can delay one of the HP updates till next time and do whichever Ranma came second
