Actually, the original release date of this movie was April 13, 2018 but it was delayed multiple times. It was developed and filmed before Disney bought 20th Century Fox in 2019, and after the acquisition, it was still delayed until it got released in 2020. Characters: - Danielle "Dani" Moonstar, also known as Mirage, has the ability to manifest people's deepest fears as physical illusions, which makes her powers unpredictable and dangerous. - Rahne Sinclair, also known as Wolfsbane, can transform into a wolf. - Illyana Rasputin, also known as Magik, she can teleport and access a supernatural dimension called Limbo, where she draws power and summons a magical sword. She's the sister of Colossus (the metal guy from Deadpool movie). Colossus' real name is Piotr Rasputin. They're both from Russia. - Sam Guthrie, also known as Cannonball, has the ability to propel himself through the air like a human rocket, becoming nearly invulnerable while doing so. - Roberto "Bobby" da Costa, also known as Sunspot, can generate intense solar energy, he's kind of like Human Torch from Fantastic Four. He's the same character from X-Men: Days of Future Past while fighting against the Sentinels. The most shocking part of this movie was that Dr. Reyes was actually working for Essex Corporation. The same organization from the post credits scene of X-Men: Apocalypse and Logan movie. This movie is set in Milbury Hospital, a facility for young mutants with newly-emerging powers that they haven't yet learned to control. They eventually learn that their treatment plan is designed to prep them for training as mutant killers under the control of the Essex Corporation, an evil company owned by Mr. Sinister. While undergoing testing, Dani experiences a vision of another mutant facility which was the Transigen facility in Mexico where Laura was created. The vision includes scenes from Logan movie of young mutants being experimented upon and trained to use their powers in combat. Dani is actually not one of the children from the Transigen facility in Logan movie. Her connection to the Transigen facility is purely psychic/visionary and she's just seeing the traumatic event. According to director Josh Boone, The New Mutants movie is set in present day possibly around the late 2010s/early 2020s before the events of Logan movie taking place in 2029 so that means Dani can read psychic echoes of fear and trauma across time and space. Essex Corp. was also involved in Deadpool 2 movie, where Russell Collins also known as Firefist was kept at the facility with other children who are mutants. The New Mutants made their first appearance in Marvel Graphic Novel #4: The New Mutants comic published in 1982, created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod.
