It's really interesting how in this chapter, both sisters have ended with their lovers comforting them. But one love is so much more meaningful. Skua's love is manipulative and is enabling Trout's worsening decisions and bigotry. Trout always refuses to face the consequences her actions have on others. Conversely, Tansy has told Sturgeon when she's fucked up, and shares her goal of wanting to make the island better for all cats, Daisy and Family alike. Sturgeon is constantly aware of the consequences her potential actions could have on others, alongside the ones for the actions she does go through with. Truly loving someone means that you will tell them when they've fucked up, and will hold them accountable for their actions.
