Last Chistmas (Patreon)

Last Christmas playing quietly on the radio. 

Or could be another song. Actually, it could be two hearts. Around this time of year I have a thing for songs that are not about Christmas but kind of sound like it. Though I've found out it's pretty subjective. It has to do a lot with experiences and what not.

The second half of Gorillaz’ Demon Days often gets me thinking of Christmas but that's definitely just a me thing. 

This weekend I went to a family reunion out of town for an uncle's birthday and a thing that got me in a Christmas spirit is that we passed by the Christmas tree forest. As in a forest with a bunch of pines from where a bunch of people buy their Christmas trees and take them home. 

And there's a big chunk of the highway surrounding the forest lines with stores and stands of Christmas decorations illuminating the road as there were little to no buildings around. Just woods.

And I just thought it looked pretty. I actually thought to myself. “I should draw this”

And here it is!

I thought of Diana for this picture as a sort of call back to a kind of a similar concept from years ago. 

This piece was done in Procreate because:

A) I haven't used my tablet in a while because of the vampire thing and 

B) I wanted something of a rougher look for this piece. Something that kind of felt more “On the go” given it is a piece about the highway. I'm not completely sure I succeeded in that.

I kind of cheated on this one a bit tough as I doodled a couple attempts at the composition on a piece of paper that I lost so I started this time lapse already knowing the composition. That's why it looks so seamless.
