Lil + The Stonerettes (Patreon)
Content
Lil and the Stonerettes was probably one of the names that Zara and the girls considered for their band shortly after having formed it and we're at the moment the only three members.
The idea may have come up on a rainy night when Lil told her friends she had the house for herself as her parents had gone to a party.
This was around the time Lil had finally found the secret drawer where her parents kept all their “good stuff”.
The name did make the girls laugh for about 27 but was quickly scrapped the following day when they discovered it wasn't that funny when sober.
Also that was Diana's first time getting high. Ah look at her! She's so scared about bad tripping that she's actually starting to bad trip!
She'll be fine…
I just invented all of that. But then again, what didn't I?
The first picture is not necessarily an accurate representation of how the night went though. But I’m starting to like the idea of this being how Diana remembers it.
“AND THEN WE WERE ALL CARTOONS DUDE!”
Now, for real. I didn't really have a plan when I drew these. I was just doodling some stuff and these two I liked enough for me to color.
I have been playing a bit with my style lately. It used to be kind of unstable years ago but I recently got a feeling, Maybe I'm exagerating, that I finally settled in with one thing, which is not a bad thing, it just made me want to play a bit. So I'm basically trying to see how cartoony can I go with the style still reading as mine.
I've been watching this Disney show Kiff which has a really basic and therefore expressive style that I'm using as inspiration without copying it., probably failing. Which sort of explains the pantslessness of these as that show is set in a cartoon animal world where clothing is optional. Though I admit that it comes as a bit shocking in my characters at first as I always draw them fully clothed. Or maybe I'm not just there yet.
Like that thing I did by the end of last year I might colour some other ones that I have and do a sketch pile of the rest later. We'll see.
Coming back to the idea of Lil and the Stonerettes for a moment, just for fun. The first and picture could be a peak of the universe where they did go with that name, Lil is the leader and face of the band and this is the cover for their 6th or 7th album.
