Well, she's a doll at the end of the day.
Or.
Living with haunted dolls ain't easy, some would even say it's dangerous, but from time to time, they’ll do something kinda cute.
Also, they get rid of plagues, which is pretty handy.
Well, the Doll has been living in “shared custody” between Vero and Nicole's place. And that's because they are the ones that could defeat the Doll through “magic”or brute force, if she’d ever try rising against them. (I don't want to talk I'll about Iggy but he'd probably get his ass kicked)
Though honestly it feels like it won't be really necessary. The Doll has kind of just been chilling for some time now.
See she’s actually a soul turned demon through an eternity of torment in hell, currently possessing a doll, though I'm liking the idea that the more she spends with The Whisperers the more she slowly remembers to be a person. Even if she hasn't noticed yet.
Like, she knew one size of her face had been cracked for some time but one day she suddenly started to care about it a bit. Enough for her to let Nicole try to cover it a bit with make up. Just once.
So, there's two versions* because as usual I haven't decided which one I like better yet. There's one in which all the panels are in one picture and one where the last panel is a stand alone one.
The first one has the advantage of telling the whole thing in just one picture. But with the second one I like how it reads with the second panel feeling like a resolution to a problem appearing at the end of the first page.
Also there's that second panel with just the top of the doll's head before hopping into something to look at the mirror and I really like that picture of the Doll just walking around the house like a malicious toddler.
I also like the implication, given by the change of color, of the last panel happening on Nicole's place.
*= Fun, this didn't start as a Doll thing. That just occured to me while I was drawing some Vero doodles. See, recently while drawing Vero for an art raffle award/commission I noticed something about Vero’s design that hadn't occurred to me. The way I draw Vero's eyes implies that she wears make-up.
And I don't think that's something important, I don't think it would be weird for her character or something like that, but I had just never thought about it.
So I wanted to draw Vero doing her eyes, which accidentally ended up being like revisiting that series of pictures with the Worndown Children in the morning and that I might revisit again soon. I also doodled her doing her classic hairstyle, and then I came up with the Doll thing. Had that not happened the final picture would have looked like this:
Kinda boring tho lol. Ironically this is more or less was what I originally envisioned that series of pictures of the band as, before I ended up making them fully rendered drawings.
