I think the reason why someone was bringing up 1989 vs To Pimp a Butterfly was because after Frank Ocean’s Coachella set, I saw people bring up “never forget when he slammed 1989” cause he made a throwaway comment years ago about how To Pimp a Butterfly should have won… as if that’s on the same level of “bad” as the messy Coachella set he put on 😭

Also. I tend to agree with Madeline that Midnights was phoned in and will be her last pop record at least for a while. I don't think her heart is in pop anymore. (This doesn't really upset me tbh) What I REALLY want is a rockier album with more songs like Would've Could've Should've. That would lend itself very well to a breakup record and she could get some bangers out of it for sure.

Midnights was always going to be a hit even when we're not considering Album sales she still would've topped the charts specifically the top 10 with streams alone, and in my opinion if Harry's House won album of the year I don't see why Midnights shouldn't. Harry's House is not better than Midnights.
